I rented this game. It's fun, but it's a Ninja Gaiden rip. That's basically what the game is, Ninja Gaiden, except it doesn't have the weapons Ninja Gaiden has (or the running on walls shit). It's still great fun nonetheless.

I'm assuming God of War and Ninja Gaiden were made by the same people? If not, I feel some serious copyright infringement. Both games even have the little glowing balls that suck into you.

there are a few other games that have "glowing balls" also. or perhaps the makers of Ninja Gaiden have a copyright on the "sucking" bit?

I think it's the game engine tbh... I haven't seen this game yet but both Devil may Cry and Ninja Gaiden use the same engine if I'm not mistaken and both games have the ball sucking crap. Fuck that sounds gay.

Nah, those are staples of many games. Might as well claim copyright infringement for the use of coins in games...or powerups...or combos...or weapon upgrades...or pre-rendered backgrounds with fixed camera angles....
I just wish God of War had, if nothing else, a first person 'look' ability so you could see some of the amazing scenery better.
