Is it really that hard for a recruiter to say something like "Thanks for submitting your resume. We will contact you shortly." or "We're sorry but you do not meet the requirements for this position."? Or am I doing something horribly wrong that makes people flat-out ignore me? I always follow their instructions exactly, email the person directly when possible and type out a cover-letter for each application.
If you aren't hearing anything there is likely something on your resume turning them off quick.

I'd be happy to take a look at the resume and cover letter and give feedback (i'm not an expert in it, but I've helped a lot of people put together resumes and cover letters).

It is not a requirement for Human Resources of any company to send a response. Only a few do it as a courtesy.

My dad (Who works for the Department of Energy) gave me a resume format that made my call backs quadruple. If you want it, tell me where to send it.
Any chance you could sent my way? I'm pretty happy with my CV but it definitely wouldn't do me any harm to take some tips.

If you send it then mail it to exolor ]at[ hotmail dot kom

TIA :)

if you could, me as well, bigbadchris@stoplookingatmyass.com

I'm going on the hunt fairly soon here. However, where I am ( Alberta ), it's not hard to get a job within a few days.

Bingo. That and the fact new grads are competing with a lot of people who have the same credentials and far more experience. Its takes patience.

Cheers mate, I might be able to use ideas from that to make my bullet points punchier, it also reminded me of some things I need to add.

I never thought to put UML in there even though I've covered that either :D

Thanks. That is pretty similar to what I have now but I do like the way you have much more detail about each skill.
