Seriously?
While the state Parks and Wildlife Department issued Cheney a warning for not possessing a required stamp on his hunting license, the sheriff's department said there was "no alcohol or misconduct involved in the incident."

More Daily Show goodness:
"Tonight, the Vice President is standing by his decision to shoot Harry Whittington. Now, according to the best intelligence available, there were quail hidden in the brush. Everyone believed at the time there were quail in the brush. And while the quail turned out to be a 78-year old man, even knowing that today, Mr Cheney insists he still would have shot Mr Whittington in the face.
[...]
He believes the world is a beter place for his spreading buckshot throughout the entire region of Whittington's face."

Stewart asked Corddry why the VP still would have done it, knowing what he knows now.

"In a post-9/11 world, the American people expect their leaders to be decisive. To not have shot his friend in the face would have sent a message to the quail that America is weak.

The mere fact that we're even talking about [this] is letting the quail know how we're hunting them."

I just love listening to the press corps ask questions like "when did the president learn that THE VICE PRESIDENT HAD SHOT SOMEONE?"

Texas state law makes hunting accidents that result in death criminal.

Also, they're starting to investigate coverup because of the amount of bleeding the guy had. Apparently the time of day from which quail hunting is allowed and the guy forensicly appears to have been shot don't jive.

I really hope the guy ends up ok, but if things go sour, I really hope karma makes Cheney his bitch.
