firstly i don't hate americans. there is a few that give the majority a bad name. most of them are civil, moral people like the rest of us.

that said. it's sad that the few people in power have fucked so many people in the ass, world opinion now favours the rise of china as a counter to the usa.

the thing is, as long as the US keeps off of the other main power's way, the UN will continue to basicaly ignore their actons.

However china strikes me more of a " gloves off " power, and as soon as they stumble on the wrong toes WW3 will brake out and they will be put in their place.

If nuclear or biological war broke out then we'd all be fucked but, that aside, there isn't a country on the planet (including the US by the fact Bush steps lightly with them) who wants to take on China in a conventional war. 2,000 soldiers died in Iraq and people are howling already so just imagine the loss of life and social fallout that a war with China would bring. While you're thinking about that remember that China regards citizens and soldiers are expendable resources. The US citizens don't think that way.

I'm thinking of ww3 as more of an allied effort rather than just the US,

but I am not up to date with china's diplomatic friendships with other significant powers, who knows they might actually have some support from neighboring countries

in addition...lets just hope a healthy fear of unconventional war would keep both sides at bay

there will never be a WW3 such as a full scale of lets say, China/N Korea/Iran vs the world because there is no way to keep it from escalating to full out nuclear war. Everyone knows it and China may be some communist punks, they are smart enough to not and side with some crazy nation like Korea/Iran that will potentially turn into a USA vs China nuclear war. And the USA is not stupid to try and force China into war by threatening military action against them by lets say, over Tiawan so it all balances itself out.
But with that said the USA will take out China with ease in an all out CONVENTIONAL war which will never happen because you cant keep a conventional war from escalating into nuclear war. In the dynamics of modern war between modern nations "foot soldiers" are obsolete and are more of a tool of trying to occupy the losing nation after the war is basically over. China may have the most "foot soldiers" but that wont do nothing as their inferior technology with many sectors o f their military using ancient technologies in certain areas will do nothing against a barrage of missles destroying all their hard targets and clusters of troops. The most they can do is "defend" off an initial attack and target US bases near by and hope the US would lose the will to continue. Know way they can try to stage an offensive across the Pacific against the USA itself.

The public education crisis in the US is, IMHO, going to increase the rift between the 'haves' and 'have-nots'. Talked with a teacher today who thinks that we might see a day soon when China starts outsourcing cheap labor to the poorly educated masses of the US lower class as China continues to build up its middle class (haven't studied the situation extensively myself so I don't know all of the Chinese middle class situation).

From what I can see right now, American companies who think about outsourcing now will choose between MORE qualified folks in foreign countries willing to do more work for less, as opposed to unqualilfied workers in foreign countries doing more work for less. With how apathetic the typical American teen has become regarding his or her education and the privilige that it really is, coupled with the fact that the system itself is crumbling under its own convoluted and inadequate, knee-jerk approaches to things it won't be long before we have a 'missing generation' of truly educated and literate people. Hell, based on studies recently done on college students, that generation may be out there right now...

So, back to the China thing - I haven't read this whole thread, but I don't think its a huge "if" to see China become the real sole superpower of the world.
