Well, the price alone indicates that these aren't made in the traditional (read: very work-intensive and expensive) way imo.
Can't say for sure, but I can guarantee that a true collector would look down on those. Which says nothing about their sharpness or sturdyness though.

absolutely, checking the forging process the early folds are done by a repeating hammer before being finished off by hand, instead of the whole process being handmade. some of the vendors in that site you linked have stunning work. especially the shirasayas.

Well it's obvious those are all cheap fakes but as it stands I have no plans of going on a mass murder sword swinging spree so a fake sword on my wall will look as good as a real one.

I was once fascinated by the sharpness and deadliness of Japanese swords. (After seeing Kill Bill to be exact.)

But after I did some research, what fascinated me most about japanese swords is their age and history.

Some blades are over or close to 1000 years old, have killed numerous people, went through so many hands and still look great today.

If I ever bought a katana (or nihonto or whatever you prefer to call them) it would have to be one that's at least a couple hundred years old, with papers, documentation on the smith and history of the sword, and all that jazz.
I don't think I'll ever buy one though, cause it's really just a stupid piece of metal.

i like samurai swords, got 2 myself but i prefer these types as i think they have more style

It is a common misconception that Japanese swords are far superior to all other swords. In fact, the Japanese only refined the Chinese art of sword-making. (They did a good job at it though.)

It is a commonly-encountered article of faith that katanas are intrinsically superior to European swords. This belief is frequently bolstered by roleplaying games that assign superior statistics to katanas, and also by many movies. However, these claims are largely based on misunderstandings about the manufacture and role of European swords, and comparing the schools on their worst examples instead of their best.

Because Japan was an iron-poor society, making a sword was an intrinsically expensive undertaking; the supply of swords was limited, and so it was in the smiths' interest to make the most of the materials they could afford.
