You only have an exhaust, right? My guess is low 14's if you're lucky.

and I don't mean nascar :p
lol

I like watching them mostly because the speed is just incredible.

I don't like nascar very much either. Formula 1 and rally is more my type.
Nascar is dreadful to watch - I only watch the collisions and the final 5 laps of each race :icon25:

F1 definitely boasts some of the best driving talent in the world.

If you want driving talent, watch the WRC.

They race two road courses a year. Sears Point and Watkins Glen.

The 8-10 drivers out of 40 who know how to turn right leave everyone else in the dust (or by the side of the road lol)
but yet still a borefest.

hah small world - last night was having a discussion on fastest accelerating vehicles, and i ended up stumbling upon top-fuelers.

i read somewhere that they go to 100mph in 0.8 seconds. I wonder how fast they go to 100 kmh (60 mph)

i also read that the g-forces are enough to detach retinas.

0-330mph in 4.5 seconds or less...... that is just mind boggling

i imagine you'd need special tires and road surfaces to allow the grip necessary for such acceleration right?

big huge drag tires and a sticky coated track pretty much do it. the track is so stick at the starting area, if you were to walk across it you would lose your shoes in like one step.

I had the chance to go to an NHRA event at Infineon Raceway for free some years ago, but I didn't go :(

I believe the tires also extensively deform during the immediate launch, so that helps grip the road (i think).

Actually, don't different sponsors host the same track a few times in a season? I believe there are 2 races at Watkins Glen and 2 at the now-called Infineon Raceway.

i read that the angled headers by themselves are responsible for ~700lbs of downforce. The huge win gon the back does much more though
