What exactly are you preventing? As a Brit, I find the modern US outlook on global prevention mildly ironic - when the British empire was still around the US was very quick to dismiss our habit of meeting potential problems with armed force as barbaric. I'm still at a loss to understand why the US doing the same thing is a different matter.
