good thing the previous owner crashed it before he did anything dumber than adding a Type-R badge.
tell your dad to take that off when he's fixing it.

Dude...you were completely fucking robbed. $2000 for a crashed Civic hatchback with a salvage title? Not to mention the fact that the dude had a TypeR sticker...He probably wrecked it after racing the fuck out of it. Why the hell didn't you go buy a 91 hatch that was in perfect condition and instead of spending money fixing it you could already have your turboed H22....

And you made fun of me for buying the Eclipse...lol

Don't laugh! I've got steel wheels on my TT right now! (Of course, it's because they're for my snow tires -- the alloys will go back on once spring comes around :p )

Still, my wheels look like shit atm...

The car is declared to be a total loss by the insurance company. They've estimated the total price for fixing it at $7900. Since my dad is gonna fix it himself, he's gonna pay a lot less than that, otherwise what's the point of buying a crashed car.
You have to have a frame bending machine or frame-puller to fix a frame properly. Your dad got one of those?
Duh, thats his job.

My dad will fix it and I'll have a car to get from point a to b. If I'm gonna have some money, I might do a k20a (RSX-S) swap.
idiot... Why in gods name would you put a K20 in a EK chassis?

you can do the B16A Swap Easly, or opt up to the B18's ( any of them ! pick one! ) if you really want to go through fuckign hell, Get a H22 and plop it in with Early Prelude half shafts and etc.

if i where you, i would debadge it, and put a B18C3 in... but hey, you do what you want.

btw, my Reasoning is that the K block's mounts are Not even close to the B series block's mounts.. you can put a b18 in with NO MODS to the chassis, but wiring and routing.. thats all.. the H series, you will only move 1 mount.. then rest *CAN* fit.. the K series you will need to move the whole fucking thing.

an ek chassis gos' for about 8-12Grand over here, So 2g's with a little work is kinda worth it....

but getting an EG Chassis or worsea 4th gen ( 8X-91.5 ) is rot, they fucking rust like cheap whores around here..

so in a way there is a logic behind it, And i do see why he is doing it, but the motor swap of choice is what i have beef with.

Thing is my friend is doing a k24 swap, so he'll know everything I need to do a K-series swap. Plus its a lot easier to find a crashed into shit RSX-S at a dealers auction that I'll be able to buy just for the engine which has low mileage (50k and less) than an Integra GSR or an SiR or something. Plus a k20a has 200hp and a six speed transmission. But anyway I'll see about all that when my friend actually drops the engine in his car.

What better five year old car would I buy for $2000?

Its year isn't necesarily as important as whether it's actually drivable or not :icon19:. So what if your dad can repair it? The time he would need to spend on it would be time he could be spent getting paid.

the B18C3 makes 200hp stock...

and it aint in any car in canada, So geting one with Sub 50'000KM's is easy as shit..
last i priced:
B18c3 out of an 1999 integra Type R shipped for ~3'500CDN. thats with a LSD tranny, ECU, Uncut wiring...

the ONLY thing that the K Block has as an advantige is the 6 speed. but the B18c3 has a LSD and a close ratio Gear range..

you do the math.

I've been in a wreck in a car that small. Never again. Those things are death traps.

edit: We were sitting still and the guy hit us going 40 mph or 64 kph. Totalled our car and almost killed my wife.

Yeah but then you can add 15,000 and get a decent card instead.
