This is constructive criticism? I'm not negatively judging the goofball, I have an opinion of him based on witnessing the things he's done. And my purpose wasn't to talk about him on the internet - my purpose was to find out if Everquest could be responsible for all this bandwidth usage, because I know he plays it religiously. If Everquest is not causing this, then I am going to find a way to throttle his bandwidth, because I know it won't prevent him from playing his game.

On a related note, WoW uses a bittorrent like protocol to distribute the updates and it is absolutely raping my bandwidth because there is no upload limit. I didn't even know I could upload at rates this high :icon28:

I've considered that, but like I said, that's something the landlord should pay for if he wants to split this place into a separate apartment and make more rent money. The cable is in the other guys name. He doesn't have to share it. The guy could call the cable company and tell them Rook is stealing the signal and have him shut off.

I have two 10mb/s lines ran to my house (Cause I'm a torrenting little faggot)(but honestly my dad does some shit with streaming hi-def through some service and this was the best way to go or somthing, I never really asked about it because frankly I don't care he uses it like once a week the rest it's mine)

And the most I've ever managed to use at once was 4megabytes/second (not bits, bytes) I had WoW running, Bittorrent down/uploading three games, internet radio, and a huge voip room, oh and irc and that was it, but don't forget, torrents = 1/3 of all the internet's bandwidth

I'm not stealing the cable - we're giving the guy 30 bucks a month for our share of the internet access. And the cable SHOULD be in our name, not his, because we are the ones who rented the house. But since he couldn't find a place, and the landlord let him live in the basement, he just carried his cable modem downstairs with him, kept it in his name, and used it that way. Eventually I got him to let me keep the modem upstairs and hook it up to my router, because his router is a POS and kept dropping our connection, and he was never home in the evenings when I needed it up.

I have talked to him about it, and for over a month now he has been saying he's going to transfer the cable over to my name, but he still hasn't done it. Just like he's been saying he's going to find a new place, and still hasn't done it.

But I digress.

But lately, when I get up in the morning to check the news, or when I get home at night and browse here, the bandwidth is being sucked up. Sometimes he starts shit up right before he leaves the house. Literally, I'll see his port on the router go nuts, and 5 minutes later he's pulling out of the driveway. At which point I just disconnect him from the router.

If I had some way to throttle his connection, this would all be a moot point until the time he finally decides to either transfer the bill to my name, or move out.
