only 13 seconds for the first one
steady your aim soldier you're killin me with literal quakevidsion
Not bad, not bad...
Where you at? (Of course I don't drive yet, though I can drive stick (vette stick) I have no licensce yet (need better grades :-( ) but we have a 2003 Corvette z06 (stock)(My dad's not sure what to do with it as it will be worth quite a pretty penny as it's 50th anniverserary edit.)...then we have the beast...
1967 Pontiac Firebird (regimental red)
Rebulit 2 Winters ago
Chevy Big Block 502
950CFM (holly I think) Doublepumper Carb
Custom Pushrods and Rocker Arms
Holly Pro Comp Headers (3 inch I think, dented to fit in 3 pipes but not by much)
Richmond 5 speed (6 was too much by 1200$)
Dana 60 Rear End (beastly)
3.90somthing gear ratio (4.? was too high)
No dyno yet, traction bars and suspension aren't set yet, but estimated (by a ford pro stock drag racing tech who's a friend of ours) says that after we get everything set up and get it professionaly tuned (the carb is a bitch as is the timing), we will have at least 550hp, and 600+lb/ft of torque...
Without the suspension or traction bar set up, we ran low 12's, I had the best time at 12.1 (he was afraid to stop as there was little run down space after the track was over, I wasn't :-D) But We also have to weld subframe connectors in as we twisted the car rather good...

Why not?
Jenny: lol, i'm not changing the whole harddrive directory structure for a mod. Do it proper like other mods please.

i remember posting it...thought it was a dodge viperFoo wrote:related note.. anyone got that video of the ridiculously overmodded car at 1000s of BHP on a rolling ramp surrounded by fans? I can't remember the car, think it had GT40 stripes, but it was on the ramp, and it spins up and just keeps getting louder and louder and louder and then they show you the output graph at the end.
EDIT: I think it was a corvette

"Horsepower" is the engine's power output. It can be measured in horsepower or in kilowatts. Just torque without power won't move your car. When two engines are making 225hp at a certain point, one being a 1.8L and the other one a 5.0L, they will move the car equally at that exact point when each is making 225hp. The difference is that the car with more torque will make more power earlier, therefore it will accelerate quicker, since you accelerate by changing the RPM, not by having the engine run at its peak power (unless you have a continuously variable transmission, like a snowmobile).Deji wrote:BTW, wtf would horsepower then be? The amount of work the engine does, which is not in direct correlation with how fast the car goes? (Torque and horsepower peaks in different places)
Would energy input(amount of gas) and horsepower in a 1:1 correlation?
In theory, the engine's power is directly proportional to the gas consumption, but since engines aren't 100% efficient and don't have a very steady increase in power with rising RPM, its not a 1:1 correlation.
That Team Integra article is very good, it shows that what is important for drag racing is for an engine to make more power earlier (at lower RPM) by having more torque, even though it will end up making equal or less peak power.

The viper's engine was based off a truck engines. The basic gist of the viper is that it's a car body that's been built up around the oversize truck engine, it's what gives it its unique look.AmIdYfReAk wrote:Explain, we'll atleast tell me you are not talking about the viper.Foo wrote: Truck engine + car body = win.
there was another movie of a Buick GN Pulling in the ballpark of 1300HP at the rear's wile it was spinning on the dyno.
Good ole TT V6's

But its a pretty fucking stupid car compared to the europeans of equivalent price.Foo wrote:The viper's engine was based off a truck engines.
