good luck! just pretend you can use Max or whatever and then figure it out once you get the job - worked for me :)

seriously, once you get your head round the basic concepts its actually easier to use Max/Maya etc than a 'simpler' level editor like Radiant. Or at least its easier to make more complicated things at any rate.

Well, still don't know anything, and it somehow feels like it was a eternity since I were on the interview. I don't know what effect the hollydays had with the return answers from them, but I have a feeling it wasen't possitive since they didn't call me or even mail me last week. Or the guy had/ve some kind of vaccation.
If they don't give me something this week I'll call them. Even if I don't get a job at Dice, this will never feel like a letdown or somehting like that, since I never approached them about it, they mailed me and asked so I could care less... no I can't care less, but, well heh, you know ;D (I think they had a real problem understanding if I should be placed as a Level Designer or a Env Artist really and its never good to be in the middle like that)

There are a few things that are good, I don't need to relocate (the main guy was supprised, for him I could have lived down south (500 km from here)), the last guy was really impressed with my 'atmosphere' and skies.
The downside is, that I was incredibly nervous and I think that I talked to much (the int was like 1H40Min, never been on a interview that long either) and on the Q why I never looked into working with this before I just coulden't answer, cause I really don't know, sweden isn't that big when it comes down to companies in the game-biz and also, its my dream job, who the hell thinks it could be that easy as just getting a mail and then getting hired?!

I was so supprised with the mail, that I instatly, when I got it, replied with "Is this a spam-mail" Nothing more, no sign or anything, later, ~1H, I did a rereply, after I had calm my self down a bit and started beliving that it wasen't a spam (even though he mailed me like ~1830 on a friday ;)). The next week he caled me and I went to the interview. And somehow, it just felt a bit "too" good, I'm still suprised, in just a few days, I _I_ -> ME <- mr. noname, with like ~3 public maps, gets a mail from Dice, the creator of battlefield and also is schedueld for a interview. And entering thier great premises, looked somehow like the FEAR surrounings, sitting in the conference room, and seeing how they (three guys did the interview) had a folder with my name and inside alot of pics of things I've made that they found on the net.

So even though I probably won't get a job there, that was, most likely the coolest exp I've ever had.

@ primaltheory, haha, they are not reading this, however, I think some other job (that I actually applied for) looked at my blog (which now is no more) and denied me a good job, even though they never found anyone else ;D And still, to this date, looks for people.

Good luck man. Checked out your site and I think you need more screenshots to show off your maps. The Velvet Yard has a great atmosphere (based on the screenshot).

The site didn't even look like that a week ago, the old page, that they saw, almost had no images at all. I plan to add more images to this, actually I have, but its not online yet.

Cool, man good luck!

I applied for a job at Dice about a year and a half ago, but that was around the time when they were purchased by EA, so they put the new positions on ice due to the takeover. But I heard that they are hiring again now, and they are investing a lot in R&D for future products, which sounds very interesting.

We (the company where I work now) have a meeting with the Dice people in a couple of weeks, to discuss possible future cooperation. Could be very exciting.

Well, I got the call, I'm in the next "phase" or what you now would call it, not I just need to sort out my previous work experience and mail that to them and then I will probably get a more clear yes/no.

@ Primal, well, I have no problems taking my own shots, one of the reasons I get new hardware is just for taking screens :k

@ Grudge, what company are you working for?

Good luck and don't ever be concerned/ashamed about being nervous. It is a good thing.

Grudge Design. ;)

Hah! Congrats on the next phase!

Another thing I was thinking about on the shots, is that you're like, an expert mapper, and you pick out what you think what looks good (and almost always does), but if you were to let somebody else take some extra pictures, he/she/they/it might see somthing extra, or find somthing special about somthing that you might not consider special...

Idk if that seemed pointless or not but hey either way no probs.

Lookin good man it's neat to see people get jobs like that!

Congrats, and good luck. Is the Dice a Swedish company?

BTW Good job with site redesign, but you should create a section about your sky textures (painstillers and skyboxes).

The site is not done, I'm gonna put my textures there and some more, map-shots, but I'm into creating some more skies right now, when they are done I'm gonna update the page.

Dice, the developer of Battlefield (and some other famous games) are seated here in Stockholm, with a sub-division in Canada and a smaller office in southern sweden (Gothenburg).
