Heh, I realise the way things are described in the book are a bit over-romanticized but it's just very entertaining to read about how Carmack and Romero were each other's opposites but worked together so well.
Too bad their opposing personalities tore them away from each other. I wonder what kind of stuff id Software would be making if Romero was still in the team.
They'd probably be making stuff I don't like. I sort of like that id sticks to what got them there. Some people might think they're limiting themselves by sticking to a certain style, but that's what I fell in love with in the first person shooter. Some of the things Romero wanted to put in Quake just sounded retarded to me. Thore's hammer or whatever... come on, dumb.

Yes, dm3 for Quake. One of the coolest tdm maps maps around.
In fact, while the subject's up, check out Swelt's remake for Promode.

Do you like Quake 3? Well then by your definition you'd be a fag because without Romero Quake 3 never would have been.
Why do you post here freakloin? You hate everything and everyone here. I just don't get you.
and how would q3 never have happened if hammergod(remember that stoopid weapon he wanted in q1?...lol) romero would have never existed? his ideas and levels in quake where shit imo...

Read my previous post, I said the same thing about the hammer. But, because Romero was involved in the revolution of creating the first person shooter, every first person shooter from now on has him and Carmack to thank.
Yeah, it may have happened eventually by someone else, but they were the first and that's that.

It's so easy for you to call him a has-been, but what have you done? You're just a freak.

That's very probable. But I really do feel he learned his lesson when it comes to smack talk. I think he might actually have something. We'll see.
And freak, that's great that you have 4 kids, no one is saying that's a small thing, but we're not talking about raising families here, we're talking about games.

When did I ever say it's a measure of worth? I never said he's a great person or a very nice man because he made games. I think he's fairly cocky, and in his early days probably had some issues with social situations.
You were simply saying he's a has-been, and I'm asking what you've done to change the world of gaming lately.
You're probably a great father, but when it comes to posting in forums you really come off as a jerk. Sorry.

I was going to tell you not to bother with freak/goof on the grounds that he's a fucking idiot, but it looks like you found out for yourself.

Not too mention that it will "revolutionize" the way we connect online!! I can't believe this dude hasn't learnt his lesson yet... You don't promise shit in the game industry. That's a fact. No other one should know it better than romero himself.
