I live right next to one of those oil refinery's actualy. It's always on the back of your mind that one day one of those things could go, if one or more did around here though I'm unsure of the effect it would have on the city since the oil refinery is so close.

Saw some footage last night from some dude that was pretty close to the thing. The flames on that cock sucker were pretty fuckin' big. Said they had like 15 fire teams in there.. I doubt they'd put it out though.. AFAIK you kinda just have to wait oil fires out.

Hmm, I teach drums at a special needs school on mondays in a place called redbourne, which is near to hemel hempstead. The head of music just rang me saying the school is closed tomorrow and for me not to go in. Some windows in the school apparently got blown out . The head of music herself lives in hemel about a mile from the explosion and she said her whole house was shaking really badly as though a plane was coming down right above her house. And the sound of the explosion was very loud. She's from new zealand and has been through a few earthquakes, but said nothing felt quite like this.
I have a rehearsal tomorrow night with my band in hertfordshire, but no idea if I'll even be able to get there, the roads are solid and probably will be tomorrow.

"It is believed that 18 of the depot’s 20 tanks, each holding three million litres of fuel, on one half of the site, had ignited. Only ten people were at the depot, a third of its normal staff, when the explosion happened."

Less Kracus , more on topic...
Interesting how the lastest tape to surface from Al-Qaeda's Zawahri in the last week specifically calls for attacks on oil facilities...
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L07306971.htm
"I call on mujahideen to concentrate their attacks on Muslims' stolen oil, most of the revenues of which go to the enemies of Islam while most of what they leave is seized by the thieves who rule our countries," Zawahri said.
