I did. But it ended on creating textures phase, it didn't look cool in "Q3" - too dark and... artificial. Maybe with some shader magic could be better, but then I got no time for it.

This is what I made then:

Those faces was supposed to be lights and teleports.

Map was too ugly to show.

The textures as such look cool, but I can imagine it being too dark... The second from the top, left (the curly bits), looks cool.

I don't think I'll be doing Giger. With my limited 'free' time I don't want to get into something like that (takes too long to make it look good).

It took me a month or so to make this: all from scratch in Paint Shop Pro, 1024x1024 (IIRC)... and it tiles. So I understand evillair doesn't want to go into this. Real nightmare
Maybe with some 3d software it could be easier, dunno.

I have been wondering what that meant for years. You guys have lots of those I don't see on other forums.

What's a ROFLCOPTOR?

Textures that would make a remake/remix of maps like q3dm13 possible would be nice. :)

Seems you have gotten alot of votes on Gothic, maybe you wanna do that, I do agree that Q4 lacks that...

Another gothic vote. :) I've always been a sucker for gothic themes.

Actually i usually like the more neutral semi-gothic style of maps like ztn's blood run better than maps with skulls and pentagrams everywhere. When it's a bit subtle and not overdone, hellish and dungeon-style ornaments and flames (q3dm1) can look very good but satan's heads and crucified Jesuses on the walls are a bit too much (and too cheesy in a way) imo.

Maps that are excessively dressed with ornaments with faces, big blood smudges and such usually make a map boring for me pretty quickly. I think it's because such a map isn't primarily an arena but more of a strong themed environment.
