you can mess with the multipliers and run about any cpu at 333 bus. i agree with shaft though - just get an a64 and an agp board. it's a little inefficient, but gradual upgrades are like that... and when you do go to pci-e you can get a more current board with possibly a newer chipset rather than using some old compromise board with both

If your going to replece everything BUT the AGP video card, which compromises everything, why not just let it go and get rid of it with the whole system??
It will help get more for the system

Its AGP. Just let it go and move on.

FOUR HUNDRED BUCKS. That's why I won't just 'let it go'.

Exactly, I spent $500 on an X800 just last xmas. I bought a MSI Neo2 mobo and an A64 4000+ San Diego (retail) for $441 from newegg.
Not a bad upgrade and Q4 runs 100% better then it did on my old barton. I was able to overclock it to 2.7Ghz, thats above what the FX-55 is clocked at for hundreds less.

couple 1gb sticks of OCZ

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Platinum System Memory - Retail
Model #: OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K

My current system is an XP2500+, 2Gb of PC2700, an ASUSA7V8X-X mobo, and a GF6800GT.
that doesn't sound like a bad system to be getting buggered witless by q4. mine is intel 3GHz cpu, 1GB of RAM (can't remember speed but faster than PC2700), ASUS P4P8X mobo + GF6600GT. sounds like i might have problems, assuming i even buy q4, and after some of the comments made here i should reserve my 6-monthly game spend on CoD2

My mobo will support a faster CPU, but not a whole lot faster. Problem is that the RAM becomes the bottleneck then.

Can anyone tell me what the fastest CPU is that I can get that will work well with 333Mhz RAM?
you could just get an entirely new machine and keep the old one for 1v1 with chums

more notes to be parted with though...

I'm also wanting to save for new carbon fiber exhausts for the R1. Decisions, decisions.

I think that the problems with Q4 are more the fault of the game than my system. In SP I had everything turned up, Ultra High detail, and it only slowed down in really hectic spots.
Meh.

I have a 3500+xp, 1 gig of 3200ddr, and the 6800GT overclocked card and q4 runs just fine...but that doesn't make up for the game itself..hehe.
