Halo didn't suck. Mario 64 didn't suck.
That's all I have to say about that.
Also, from a business perspective, it would be stupid if you had a game that might make launch, but had to suffer a little bit of quality for it, it would be stupid not to go ahead and rush it. There is virtually no competition at launch. Most likely at least 1/3 the people who buy a console at launch are going to buy your game. That's only going to hold true a few months down the road for the really, really good games.
So I don't blame them. But I agree with you that most launch titles are rushed and not worth getting.
They made light bulbs that burned for so long the customers didn't come back for more product so they went out of business. Half the reason I dont use my ID degree is learning about all the deception in modern product design and how failure and that one 'key feature omission' is a huge point of contention in the product lifecycle. If people paid closer attention to this we could get a truly great console but this round of consoles is certainly a testament to such practices.
Heh, that's the town my dad lives in (Livermore: Where the bulb mentioned on that page is). I remember there being some big deal a few years ago about a light bulb. That was probably the 100th year it was lit. I think I saw it once, can't quite remember.

Fucking hell people...
All I can say is that ATM, the games are shit, but the consoel shows promise. Its a shame all the games are not REALLY doing anything amazing. CoD2 looks like an ugly port, slows down a lot and has quite a bit of ugglyness going on (no AA? WTF?), PDZ really really really is a HUGE let down, its like those games you play that have a short First Person bit tacked onto the game, but the controls are not made for it, like those first person bits in GTA... It just sticks all over the place. Really awful AI as well, its like playing Q2 all over again. Ugly but attractive, depending on which part of the screen you look at. Kameo is great, a really, really attractive, great playing game, but again, in places its just like... WHY? Its obvious its a port in a few places, but for a launch game, ill give it some slack. NBA06 is just awful... Same old awful controls, not the players shine too! Wee!! And King Kong is a mixed bag. Ported from a lower end console and with paralax mapping, making it look a lot like the first level from Splinter Cell:CT on the PC on HIGH. Quite slow, buggy as fuck (Blue and red guns and monsters?!), and really not made for first person on the man bits. Oh, and NFS:Most Wanted has the vote for the WORST in the series. Its the same NFS people have been playing for the last 10 years, only now twice as shiney, twice as slow in the frame rate, and with twice as many particles on screen. Woo?
All in all, it "seems" to "me" like 9/10 of the games coming out for the box at launch are rushed FOR LAUNCH.
However, you would have to be a retard to judge a new console by its launch titles. They ALWAYS SUCK.
Bring on the good, quality, "we know what we are doing" titles please.
Oh, and whoever made that grey bit on the pad plastic instead of rubber needs to be shot... Thats just stupid.
you mean you've played the demo machine that sits in your little retail outlet.
No. A select few got a chance to take home a retail machine, not the core system, with a few games and a few demos.

Im pretty sure i couldn't give a shit what anybody thinks as well.
But if your willing to start a discussion on a game internet forum about a gaming machine and whats thought about it, expect to see people reply true to subject.
P.S. you stupid cunt.
I bet your review would have been completely different if the name on the console was NINTENDO instead of XBOX.

Microsoft and Sony are all about the power of their consoles and integrating everything under the sun into it. Console gaming really needs a revolution. I've totally lost interest. In fact, I put both my XBox and PS2 up on Ebay today with all my games.
The Revolution should be pretty cool, but the lack of hi-def output is embarassing.
Call me fanboy, but I ask you... why? Only a small portion of consumers own a hi-def enabled television set:shrug: Also, if MS and Sony didn't have hi-def support, nothing would've been said about it. I also don't know what hi-def will actually add to a game, not much I reckon, especially not considering that Nintendo's main aim isn't the graphics at all. If you're slamming Revolution for not being "up to par" in the graphics area, then you've completely missed the point.
Though I'm not 100% sure, I remember reading that the Revolution might get hi-def support after all, but it's not a requirement.

Playing it on a high def telly will show yo uthat high def is NOT the balls. Its not that great TBH, and if anything it shows you that AA is needed, not how sharp everything is. In fact, i think on some games (CoD2) it looks WORSE on a HD TV.
