The worst of it is that its one command that is already in the system and seriously I would bet would take 5 minutes to unlock and everyone could get 60 if they want.
You don't need 60fps to play and enjoy the game. That said, you could get a much, much better vid card for under $100 so why not just bite the bullet and upgrade. You can't expect the best if you're not willing to invest to get it. I doubt that a mod is going to unprotect that var because PB will still detect known cheats and illegal vars even after the SDK is released.

He would rather cry about it obviously..

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

Please. Its one fucking setting, that is in the game, works already but for some asinine reason is locked. Do you work in software development? If you have a user who wants functionality which is already present just locked, and no reason to not unlock it, why not unlock it?!

Not really. I played q3/ra3 from 2000-2004, no UT200x, bought doom3, didnt like it, and so want q4 to be something I can stick with for a long time. I will probably buy a new vid card since its been 3? years since I got it and need something better anyway but the fact remains that its one setting that would make the difference for a lot of people. With the settings I have now there really arent any shadows, so whats the point in the engine thinking it should draw them? :dork:

50fps is not terrible and is playable but...you dont care, you just want to throw out your highly intelligent insults in good rants and raves fashion and sign off knowing your making a difference in the world right? :icon26:

Nevermind, I can feel my life wasting away typing this out when I should just be playing. :puke:

Your the type of person that has an outcry when something you buy gets outdated and no longer as "good" as the "new" stuff..

This is what this is, your crying because either

A: You're to cheap to buy a new card
B: You're to poor to buy a new card
C: Game should work fine for you because YOU said so

Pick one, its the only options you have given yourself

lol, to be honest this whole discussion is rather sad.

A year from now we'll all be looking back at this and saying "bwahahaha, our 6Ghz CPU's can easily get us 60fps solid".

This whole discussion happened when the original Unreal was released. People ranted about it having such high sys requirements compared to Quake 2. It happened when Quake 3 was released ("You NEED a 3D accelerator for this?!?!?") and now it happends with Quake 4 as well.

To be honest, if I leave Quake 4 untweaked through the console and only set the detail settings a bit lower through the menu then I get acceptable framerates in MP. Sure, it's not 60fps solid, but I never had illusions of being able to manage that.

I realise this is new technology that's hard on the system, but it's like that with every generation of software. Just imagine the reactions when the next Unreal Tournament based on the UE3 comes out.

People, gaming is an expensive hobby. Don't have any illusions that your 3 year old PC will be able to run the latest games at high framerates.

edit:
but I guess this has all been said before.

Once again, no. I have always played with a system below what I would say the majority of serious players, those who play several hours a day, do.

I would say A is closest out of your list but there should have been a D. When the game has a functionality, it should be open to players to use it.

Not because I say so, I dont want Raven to spend a week working for a fix for just me and me alone. I want them to take 1 minute and unlock 1 variable. OMFG I R TEH SELFISH. :icon23:

IF NOBODY GIVES IN TO MY UNREASONABLE DEMANDS I WILL....continue to play anyway. :icon29:

I will be at work all day, should we just keep bashing our heads into the wall over this? That does seem to be the way things go around here. :icon32:
