Yeah, Jesus Christ Julios. You're not wigging out on us again and questioning the simple realities of nature, are you?

Socrates: Yes, but what is the true nature of this hyper-link, Meno?

Watching the demo, how do you know where the colosi are? Do you follow set paths?

can anyone just explain whether it's a 3d environment in which you can move around in (not like myst style 3d but quake style 3d)?

My only real problem with the PS2 is the damn loading times. Was about to sell it, but maybe I'll hang on to it a little longer for this.

i am in the same boat. I was about to give away my ps2, then I played ratchet and clank for the first time and figured i'd keep it for those games. Then god of war came along, and I was really glad I kept it for that.

Okay, I'm someone who has actually played Shadow of the Colossus and:

It owns. Seriously. There is nothing quite like it. The feeling of climbing a walking (or flying) colossus is amazing. One of the best gaming experiences for me in a long time.

It isn't a game for you though if you can't go 5 minutes without a lot of action. You even replenish health if you stand still.

IMO, the only PS2 games that have long loading times these days are multiplatform games.

God of War - No real loading times after the game gets started because of streaming

Ratched and Clank Up Your Arsneal - Only a quick loading time (ship fly-by sequence) when going from planet to planet

Shadow of the Colossus - No loading times once you load a savegame, world is streamed. Only when you kill a colossus and return to the shrine.

etc.

Gamecube 1st party games still tend to have the fewest loading times though.

I noticed in the paper that Best Buy gets the game in this Thursday. So it'll actually be sold in stores, unlike Ico was. Had to order that one online.

Hopefully that means it will sell better.

KingMan, what I want to know is, what do you do when you're not killing the Colossus's? What kind of gameplay is implemented when trying to find a colossus?

You're basically just looking to find the colossi. This is done by riding your horse around and using the beam of your sword to pinpoint the colossi's location.

So, in other words, there really isn't anything inbetween the colossi, which is part of the reason why the game is rather short (8-12 Hours). You should probably get a map with their location from GameFAQs.com anyway.

There are only aprox. 3 times when you actually need to climb places to get to a colossus.

Well, after beating the first colossus and fighting the 2nd one to halfway dead, I have to say....meh.

Fun fights when things work right, but the camera is a pain in the ass, and the fps's seem to really lag as you get close to the colossi and they are kicking up dust, dirt, etc...the production value is high though , cinematic aspects aren't bad.

Perhaps I need to give it more time to grow on me. The music is good, the environment cool but a tad barren for me...essentially this game is just 21 or so boss fights. I spent a good deal of time trying to lure the 2nd guy out because he had literally walked into teh wall (not his cave) and had half is body cropped off, so just his head was sticking out of the rock wall. Makes it tough to find a spot to grab.

Definitely a renter. Don't buy this game.
I don't see it high on the replayability list.
