The funny thing is that global warming is also helping to make these storms a little stronger....but that's science and Dubya doesn't like science......so eventually all Americans will drown.

I can only see good in that.

There have been conflicting studies on both sides of that issue.

Wilma's confirmed pressure readings early Wednesday dropped to 882 millibars, the lowest minimum pressure ever measured in a hurricane in the Americas, according to the hurricane center. Lower pressure translates into higher wind speed.

The strongest Atlantic storm on record, based on pressure readings, had been Hurricane Gilbert in 1988, which registered 888 millibars.

Wilma is the record-tying 12th hurricane of the Atlantic season, the same number reached in 1969. Records have been kept since 1851.

On Monday, Wilma became the Atlantic hurricane season's 21st named storm, tying the record set in 1933 and exhausting the list of names for this year.

The six-month hurricane season does not end until Nov. 30. Any new storms would be named with letters from the Greek alphabet, starting with Alpha.

Is that in response to my post, or just an FYI?

Not at all, just ran across the article and thought I'd post it for the info, for what it was worth. :)

Could just be more to hype the storm up, but I thought it was interesting.

After stalling for a few days, this bitch is finally heading our way (Ft Myers FL). I am going to board up my windows this morning and get my place prepared. After which I will play Q4 till we lose power. I don't want to wish this storm on anybody but I hope it hits somewhere else. Good luck to all in harms way.
