This is one of the main reasons I hate cell phones.

that'd be a bit annoying to see that thing flopping around in a tray next to you on an airplane, once all the airlines succumb to cell phone usage. *shudders*

I hope not. A confined space for hours with dozens of people babbling away on phones...ugh. :puke:

I hate people like you, you're so fucking ignorant. Please tell me how someone speaking to someone else on a phone affects you personaly as opposed to them speaking to a friend right next to them?

Oh I see so you're saying everyone else should put their lives on hold so you don't have to listen to a phone ring in public places. :dork:

Does that not strike you as a pretty fucking stupid way of thinking? It's called technology, fucking deal with it.

Hearing only half a conversation confuses your hearing, even if you're not listening to any of it. It happens because part of speaking is tone, and your tone is dependant on the other members of the conversation, what they say and their own tone. When someone's on a phone, their tone changes in accordance with what's being said, but those around them only hear unexpected changes in tone and become alerted by it.

Take for an example: Sitting in a bar, you have people taking all around you. None of this is usually bothersome. However, as soon as someone in that bar is one the phone, you can single their voice out pretty quickly, becuase of the unexpected tones in their voice.

All this translates into being in an irritated state when people around you are on the phone.
