I don't care whether it's about bush or the word fuck. In both cases I find it a tad excessive to deny them entry.

They didn't... They offered her the very reasonable opportunity to change her T-Shirt. If she's on a flight, she presumably had a spare.

I doubt that. Once your luggage is loaded, there's no way they're gonna let you get to it.

Yep. They asked her to please change the shirt (even just turn it inside out) to prevent offending anyone, and she is the one who refused and made a scene about it.

There are times and places to make statements, but people who do it in the carpool on the way to work are usually hated by their coworkers. This isn't much different. Sounds like she was intentionally trying to make an issue out of it to me.

It's just been seized upon by anyone desperate for some anti-bush nonsense.

Dissapointing. It'd be preferable if anti-bush people would pick and choose their fights more carefully, add more credibility to the side.
Actually...it's not some "deperate anti-Bush nonsense"...it's "anti-american nonsense".

The fact that people get offended by a word spelled out on a t-shirt (and create enough of a public stink about it to throw someone off a plane) proves only that America is a bunch of prudes who are easily offended whenever someone:

a) Swears or wears a shirt with a swear word on it
b) Bashes anything about their country

Take your pick.

I've worn countless "offensive" shirts on planes all over Canada and Europe (and on several trains in Europe) and not a single person ever bitched about it and I was never asked to change it, turn it inside out nor was I asked to get off the plane/train if I didn't.

I reformulate my point: America is a bunch of fascist prudes who will have someone (who was otherwise not bothering anyone) removed from an aircraft.

I really hope you aren't insinuating that pro-Bush people actually have credibility on their side. :icon26:

I'm sure you'd get booted from a flight for wearing a shirt saying "Radical Islamist" or "Bomb Technician" anything that can cause a disturbance in the air is pretty much removed from the flight.

She got kicked off for not changing out of the 'offensive' shirt not because she hates bush.. I've seen guys get removed from planes with a guy doing a chick on his shirt..
moron alert. in nazi germany, companies had the right to 'employ' jew slaves... so?

how about you getting a real oppinion...

But now you're arguing 2 quite seperate issues in one go. If you seriously want to make headway with one, you need to stick to one, and not dodge between the 2 when it suits you.

Seriously though, if I wore a t-shirt that just had 'fuck off' written on it, not only would I be breaking a couple of laws by wearing it in public (in the UK), I would also not be surprised at getting pulled over a couple of times per day for wearing it, and probably getting beaten up once every couple of months because of it.

The main reason it's illegal is because swearing is a censorable issue, partly maybe mostly because 'think of teh childrensors'.

i'm totally aware of what you were trying to say with your post. as rook said: even thought they're allowed to act like that it's still fascist.

Several people were saying they thought it was the word "fuck" that got her kicked off the plane. I was saying I thought she got kicked off the plane because she wore an anti-Bush shirt. If you read my third post you'll see that I've maintained that stance.

I'm not dodging anything...I'm simply adding "prude" to the "fascist" equation to piss off Americans. :icon26:

Oh...and Jesus was a terrorist. :olo:

Because what started out as the product of educated, philosophical reasoning ended up being a kind of oft-repeated societal dogma for the masses.

Somewhere along the line, people started repeating the catch phrase without the neccesary knowledge behind what the statement means, to back it up.

again, it's a corporation that deny's travelers daily for being drunk, cussing in line, considered drunk, smelly folks, name it, they've kicked it off the flight.

Is it right? No.. but just like any business they can deny flight to anyone, there's other carriers that can pick up your money if you get booted off, it's has nothing to do with the country it's a choice Southwest has decided to take, if you get a chance watch "Airline" it's a reality show about southwest, and check out some of the hicks that get booted daily..

Nah...we can't have those because then children on the plane will ask their parents/guardians/ass-hammering priest what the missing letter is.

And forget about shirts that say "F**K"...because EVERYONE knows what you're trying to say.
