Yeah , I'm a little leery about buying something like this from ebay. Especially when the savings is only $130.00. But the ebay ones are advertised as brand new, sealed in the box, never opened and not a refurbish monitors.

Fuck it..... I called Dell and got the 2405.
It comes with a 3 year warranty and if I don't like it, I can take it to a local Dell store within 21 days and get my money back.

Different companies have different standards for that, so one 8ms display might look like someone else's 25ms display. Some 25ms displays don't show ghosting, some do. You really can not rely on that number as being accurate, so just go with one that you or someone you trust has seen first hand.

That's what I'm doing. I've seen lots of good reviews and personal accounts regarding this monitor. It's hard to know what a company's advertised response time really is. It could be gray to gray, black to white, black to white to black or some other weird variation. You've really got to see it for yourself.
I'm not 100% sure I'm going to like the 2405. But based on the reviews I think I will. If not, back to Dell it goes.

Glad you went with Dell, much safer deal if something goes wrong. :icon14:

I'd be very surprised if you didn't like it, I couldn't imagine being without the Apple 23", so much so I'm getting another to replace the 2x17" TFTs I've got on the Mac even if it does mean losing ~600px

I've got a Samsung 213T LCD and a 21" Viewsonic CRT right now. Since I got my 213T, I've wanted to get this huge CRT off my desk for good. That's why I've been looking for an LCD monitor that I can game on. Because I usually use the CRT for gaming and use my LCD for running apps., surfing the web and taking to LAN parties.
I'm anxious to see how well the Dell works out.

So you'll have 2 21" LCDs and a 24"? What the hell do you use them all for? I'm still on 1 19" CRT.

No... I've got (1) 21" LCD and (1) 21" CRT. I'm getting rid of the CRT when I get the 24" LCD.

Oops, got it.

What GPU do you have again? 6800 or 7800? I'm curious to see how things go with such a high-res display. If you get decent FPS, that's gonna be such an awesome setup.

I've never had any problems gaming on my Apple 23" either. Nice, sharp monitors.
*waits for juggy to bitch about black levels*

I only have one BFG 6800 and a 3200 AMD 64bit with 1.5 gigs of ram and I can play most everything in 1920x1200 or 1600x1024 with good FPS. Things like Half-Life 2 and WoW I can run in 1920x1200 and games like Battlefield 2 and F.E.A.R. I run in 1600x1024.

Oh baby, it's here.
Let me tell you, it's fucking sweet.
I hopped on and played a little BF2. There was absolutly no ghosting at all. There was a little bit of motion blurr, but not much more than a CRT.
This is an excellent monitor. Everyone should get one. :icon25::icon14:

I tried to search for specs and reviews on the dell lcd, but all I came up with was:
Your search - 2405FWPW - did not match any documents.

Try just 2405.

It's a little hot out of the box, but after I tweaked the hell out of the gamma and colors it's pretty nice. I like portrait mode a lot
