Ok, now I can upgrade my gun again.

Won't be using the medic one this time.

Either the spec-ops gun (g36c1 or whatever) or the assault one.

the g3 specs look nice - lots of punch, and a bit more accurate than the general assault gun.

How is the g3 for mid to long range firing?

If you go assault, you lose the M203 grenade launcher. And while it is easy for noobs to kill with it, that doesn't mean you should ditch it. I'll be upgrading that kit last, I think.

I used the PKM (support upgrade) the other day after picking it up off a body and man does it have some punch to it.

I'd suggest the G36C for a first ugprade though. I'm out sniping snipers with that thing. I've gotten 1 shot kills with it from a good 250 feet.

I'm off to play my first game of 1.03, hopefully I'll up my rank at least one since I'm at almost 15K points.

I started playing on a ranked server, but it wasn't an EA server and I wasn't leveling up... I was a little dissapointed but played a few games. Got up to about 15,200 points and decided I'd join an EA server.

I joined as a Medic, so I spawn on my squad leader and a few seconds later a teammate dies. So I revive him and I level up from Corporal to Sergeant. A minute or so later another squad member dies so I revive him...and then I level up from Sergeant to Staff Sergeant. A few seconds after that I kill a guy and level up from Staff Sergeant to Gunnery Sergeant.

Three points, 3 promotions. If only things were this easy in the real world.

Did I mention EA really fucked things up with making the promotions this easy?

When I normally play BF2 post patch be it on LAN or SP I get a really nice steady FPS of around 60 but the second I try and join an online match it drops right down to 5fps.

I'm running XP and my GC is running the drivers that came with the game. Like I said SP works brilliantly but MP is screwed and unplayable no matter what my ping.

Has anyone else experienced this? Has it been a problem in the past? How can I fix it?

I don't think that's really the case. They changed the necessary scores per rank, so what you had was enough to jump you up a couple ranks as soon as your stats registered with EA. Same thing happened to me last night, I went from Lance Corporal to Sergeant after my first kill.

edit: Oh, and I unlocked the G36C because it owns, and the M95 just for the hell of it.

Heh, yeah. I unlocked the sniper rifle, machinegun, jackhammer and that funky special forces gun yesterday.

So far the only problem I am finding is that hardly anyone has updated their servers to the new patch. I can only assume that we will all be knocked back down to our ranks before the patch, but until then Ima have some fun..

I found a ton of updated servers last night. And why would your rank be reduced? They lowered the score requirements, which is why so many people leveled up.

Our server is based in Texas and hosted by Trinity games. It was updated yesterday before 5:00 pm.

I also went up 3 ranks last night.

Unlocked the auto shot gun, G36c and the Sniper rifle. I have the DAO12 and the G3 too. Only two more unlocks left. I think EA made this too easy. You've got to think that they are going to come out with another expansion that will give more weapons at higher ranks. They want to keep you paying...

Odd...after ranking up once real quick, my global score has been stuck and won't increase anymore. The little bar graph that shows my progress towards next rank has been empty now for about 5 games, all on ranked servers....

Same thing as me, TNF. I think EA's servers are having...issues. It'll work eventually. Joining an official EA server seems to help, sometimes.

So...I just got my last badges, and I have all of them (at least bronze).

Do I get anything for doing them all? Doesn't seem like it...
