This first chapter is a bunch of shit. I hope his book extends into realms of calculus and does something useful. Calculating sines and cosines without a calculator is nothing new.

I thought the whole point was not to extend into calculus for geometric problems. It seems to me like a version of trig that has been simplified down to common denominators, and basically makes sines and cosines irrelevant.

But it's been a long time since I've had any maths, and I'm not exactly a top thinker on the subject.
