Never played it before.

Played a bit of Final Fight and had SoR 1 lying around somewhere, but never went past the first few stages.

He'd never played it before either.

Nostalgia refers to the way you feel when doing a task not the specifics.

SoR was good in its day just like double Dragon was good in its day.

If they remade SoR or DD like they used too it would get shot down and slaughtered by just about everyone. Lets face it

Emulators exist cause no-one is going to spend the money on buying copies of old games they used to play or for that matter consoles they used to have,......

I loved duck hunt. Sure wouldnt catch me buying a copy of it though.

Hmmm, old games aren't fun? And the worthless drivel of today's offerings isn't?

I've been mostly playing old snes roms exclusively for the last 2 weeks. I've had more fun with them than most of the new games released on pc this year. And I don't think it was strictly the nostalgia factor... I managed to play each one of these oldies from start to finish.

Well, I don't think nostalgia is always the deciding factor when people enjoy older games. IMO, a lot of 2D games from the late SNES era were polished to near perfection gameplay wise and are a far cry from all those shitty 3D games (shitty camera angles, shitty 3D graphics, etc.) that came later.

I've enjoyed a lot of old games that I never played when they originally came out and only got my hands on in late 2002. Incl.:
Yoshi's Island, FF6/7/8/9, Chrono Trigger, Zelda: A link to the past, etc. etc. etc.

I'd just like to point out that this makes no sense as foo was talking about how he felt during the task of playing the game.

also, definition of Nostalgia as pulled from merriam-webster's website...

Main Entry: nos·tal·gia
Pronunciation: nä-'stal-j&, n&- also no-, nO-; n&-'stäl-
Function: noun
Etymology: New Latin, from Greek nostos return home + New Latin -algia; akin to Greek neisthai to return, Old English genesan to survive, Sanskrit nasate he approaches
1 : the state of being homesick : HOMESICKNESS
2 : a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to or of some past period or irrecoverable condition; also : something that evokes nostalgia

due to this enlightenment of what the word really means i find it hard to see how foo could have experienced nostalgia when he in fact had no past experience with the game.

i can understand feeling nostalgic playing an old game i've never played before. just knowing its an old game thats all pixelated and stuff reminds me of games from that other era. its not always something totally concious either.

i wonder how many streets of rage fans have tried or played more recent beat 'em ups.

Quake2 is so different, never played the n64 version. Project64 runs it bad (there is flickering, slowdowns and see-through walls) still it runs better then Quake64. Using DarkMan's DirectInput8 1.2 plugin so I can use the mouse. It's bad in this game the mouse shuffles from one side to another really fast, in 007 however it's great exactly the same as any fps game. Here are some random screenshots.

I wonder if it's possible to port the pak files from the game so it could be played on the pc more stable...

Yeah I had this on my n64. Think it came with the memory booster jump pack lolz... Had some fun playing vs. a friend in split screen =D

Can't quite remember the sp, but it was better than the pc version no? And was it the same as the ps1 version? (I also had the ps1 q2, and boy it actually looked impressive for a ps1 game =o ).
