Nice stuff guys! Thought I would post something real quick, it's been awhile!

I built this in modo and baked all of the lighting into the models and brought them into Doom 3. This allowed for soft shadows and unique texturing on each model. This is more of a portfolio piece than an actual level. You can read more about it at my new site: www.quakerx.com

I have taken a section of the Quake 3 Arena: Team Arena level "House of Decay" and recreated it.

@QuakerX:
Looks really cool, but the lights don't fit at all. They are very modern and are placed in a way that suggests they belong to the decayed building.
What about having those mobile floodlight-like thingies? Like they were used in the ruins in D3 (lack the english word, sorry)?

Don't get me wrong: the lighting also is very good, but the lights don't fit imo.

I think the lights are cool. The contrast between decayed building and modern lights looks great. Someone put in the lights afterwards, maybe it's an construction site, or an archaeological site or something...

@ALMighty:
Impressive, looking forward to play it.

I was going for a recreation of the Quake 3 level of the same name. I wanted to stay true to the gothic architecture and lighting scheme.

This is a Quake3World forum, right? How come some of you guys say Quaker-X's theme doesn't fit right when if you'll look at Q3 theme, it's exactly same thing. Taking older achitectual style such as Gothic and blending it with technology such as lights, jumppads, etc. I think Quaker-X did a very good job revising the area.

We say it 'cause it's our impression/opinion, regardless of what type of forum this is.

Don't get me wrong, I like what he did, wich I could make such a cool scene. But imo, the lights don't fit. And this is a WIP thread, and I even suggested an alternative.

Nice looking work.. One thing tho is I think you need to a) tone down the lighting colour variation; it jerks you out of the scene, and b) balance the detail "fidelity". Some things like those arches and turrents have a really high level of detail, and it makes the decal-planes atop the wall and the angular pillar-tops look really last-gen. Nice job of texturing overall.. just balance out the scene a little more, maybe?

I love the stairwells.. very chunky, Quake theme.

Tried something different (I think):

Maybe it's too low res to see anything though.

Very cool, reminds me of that quest in Oblivion where you're sucked into an oil painting world.
