I'm not going to kill a family member or myself.
No one ever thinks it'll be them. Those stats don't lie.

Listen. You live in a different part of the world, with a different up-bringing and a different line of thinking. Because you are different doesn't make your ideals right. I'm not saying I'm right either. I'm of a different opinion. My opinion on guns is clearly WAY different than yours. I have a constitutional right as an American to posses fire arms. I also know that guns aren't going away in America. I subscribe to the notion that guns don't kill people, people kill people and bans won't fix this problem here. Education is the only way we will affect change.

You don't agree? Sorry.

We can all continue to post link after link with stats that support our opinions. Actually you can. But be assured it's not going to change anything. Furthermore, continuing this conversation is also pointless. America is a LONG way away from that blissful paradise you're so desperately seeking.

Carry on.

Right. I can but you can't because reality doesn't support your opinion.

The argument that we shouldn't have tighter gun control laws because people will still find ways to kill people is a ridiculous, archaic argument that holds no water in modern day society. You may as well say we shouldn't have speed limits because people will still speed. Guns are tools designed for killing and they only become more efficient tools as technology advances. There is no other instrument widely available to society that make it as easy to kill another human being as firearms. And not only that, unlike knives or tools that have practical uses to justify their existence and availability to society, guns only exist to kill.

I'm not a stranger to firearms, I've been trained to use handguns effectively and have fired rifles for sport. But they exist for no other reason than to kill, and if you don't see a problem with that, you're kidding yourself.

I'm not going to kill a family member or myself. So how does this apply to me?
Do you see that nearly every person who killed a family member with a gun would have said this very same thing sometime before it happened? Or do you think that "criminals" get guns with the sole purpose of shooting their family?

Lets bet your wife's net worth in 10 years against mine on this.

Though she will likely be the one killing herself.

That's not what I said nor was it my point. I understand that you don't plan on shooting yourself or your family, and likewise most gun owners don't do either.

My point is that saying that you aren't going to do that is pretty pointless, because everyone who ended up shooting a family member would have said precisely the same thing. No one plans on it, yet it happens.

You're making absolutely no sense... Well I guess I'll skip driving ever again because I'm gonna die in a car crash no matter how careful or responsible of a driver I am. It's predestine because I own a car. :tard:

I understood what you said and I don't agree with your assessment of gun owners. Your claim is that because I own a gun I am more likely to kill someone. I say your assumption is nonsensical rubbish. I'm no more likely to kill someone or myself because I own gun than if I own a car.

Do you understand what you typed?

My point wasn't that PuFF's stat, although all encompassing (suicides, accidents, intentional) was not correct. My point was a lot more people die from many other things. Actual gun shooting deaths are around 30,000. But because they come from guns are they somehow worse or more preventable than other causes? Get real...

You are more likely to kill someone though, as a gun owner you are included in the figures that puff posted. You and your gun are more likely to kill your family or others by simply having it in the house or living in a state that's all yeehaw, as opposed to living somewhere more normal without any guns.

That's without going into anything 'accidental' so no need for the car comparison, which is retarded as the differences can be listed in a book as thick as your brain - cars are pretty much required and are actually designed to prevent deaths from accidents.
