now that england have exceeded everyone's pisspoor expectations just by making it out of the group stage (and at the top of the group), the hype has been cranked back up to its usual overblown level
ffs how can anyone watch england play and think they're seeing a side that can win silverware?

The hype never really died, saying theyre the underdog and then going on to rant about how the under dog will win is not reducing the hype. The hodge has a knack of reducing expectation, im surprised he hasnt gone on about his victories against the formidable and highly decorated Ukraine, England were the highest ranked team in their group and if they never progressed that would of been shameful despite Roy no doubt saying how tough the group was and no one really expected England to do well.
Germans are looking every bit the champions but my monies still on Spain still (well actually, France.... cunts), expect to see both in the final though and then its anyones game.

well that was predictable. credit to france for making an effort in the second half though

The French deserve no credit what so ever. They were dour to say the least and had no attacking threat in the first half which is what cost them the game. Spain are very suspect at the back and if you press them and get the ball forward they will buckle.
There pass pass pass style is great at Barca as they have Messi to make the magic happen. Without Messi or a striker of that quality they are boring and very predictable.
Germany should ruin them if they get to the finals. I also think that Portugal will push them hard with Ronaldo and Nina pushing forward.

I mean despite them making an effort in the 2nd half they couldn't be bothered in the first so don't deserve credit for trying in the second. They were forced into it and if they had gone in 0 - 0 I would have expected them to play much the same. Their hand was forced, basically.

They didn't make that much of an effort in the second half really. They looked like they couldn't be bothered, which is more disappointing than trying but losing anyway. Which will likely be England's situation this evening.

It's the French; they are massively tempramental and they argue massively with each other. So yes, sometimes they cannot be bothered

You should see them try to drive. Like the Chinese they "couldn't be bothered" to use the brake pedal.

I'm sure we can do this so I'm going 2-1 England. Carroll scores the winner.
Not sure though.
