Yea, hell with it. This is just fucking lame. I have gamed long enough to be able to hit a stationary target from 100 feet within 10 fucking rounds. Jesus, what is the fucking point of having any sort of crosshair or anything if your bullets aren't even coming close to where the fucking gun is pointed? Shit, I can unload 2 clips at a guy and watch him calmly sit there, have a wank, reload his gun, take a shit, and smoke a cigarette because my bullets just fly playfully past him, and he knows that the dumbshits that ported this piece of trash over from the Xbox were not going to let me get a headshot or anything insane like that...

That pretty much sums up my opinion.

I was impressed at first, but quickly became less and less.

The first and last ww2 shooter I'll ever own.

I agree with their comment about the sound options. One fucking adjustment for master volume? No 5.1, no nothing...fuck, why bother with a volume contol then...I can just use the knob on my speakers and headphones.

I am currently on the 'take back the farm' mission, after getting the farm back you get mortared up the ass and have to deal with the tank and whatnot. More suppression and flanking. Yay.

For some reason, maybe a masochistic one, I feel compelled to at least finish this barely mediocre game....but don't know that I will, playing it feels more like a chore than anything else, so I only can handle about 30 mins at a time.

I'm just starting to play Hot SHots Fore! on the PS2. Now there is a fun game.

No more fucking flankin.
Mmmm, a review written by a pissy 12 year old trying to sound like Maddox. No.
He may make some valid points, but the name of this game is realism, folks. There are SOME points in the game wherein I think I should have dropped a kraut sooner than I did, but the difficulty in shooting accurately under stressful conditions is pretty well done. I've noticed that the slower you aim your shots (in whatever situation) the more accurate you are. Just like real life. I like this game for the same reason that I like the Combat Mission series. Realism, and accurate simulation. Except for the tank vs. tank AI. Peeeeyew. It fucking stinks.
As far as flanking goes, well that's how it's really done.
I can see the merits in your dislike of the game, I just happen to like it for the most part.

Well, you would be able to understand the realizm of shooting in a stressful situation better than I, but I just think this game takes it to a ridiculous level. I can't enjoy this game because I just feel like gaming skill has very little to do with it. At some point, you have to have the faith that that little bullet is going to go where you point the gun....sure, I expected spray and kick to affect the accuracy, and didn't plan on picking off guys with headshots from 100 yards while running through mortar fire. But when you've executed a good flanking, etc., and can't finish it because you shoot with about 10% accuracy unless you are right next to the guy, it just gets a bit ridiculous. I'm all for an element of realism, and if this shooting accurately portrays the ability of a soldier in the 101st to shoot under pressure, I am worried.

As for the review, yea, the kid tried to sound maddox like, but IMHO he hits the nail on the head with his complaints.

One thing, I think you see such frustration from people because they can see how good this game could have been if these issues had been addressed. If this game had no potential, I wouldn't be frustrated with the lack of realism (no leaning, no prone, can't climb a 2 foot fence, etc..).

Yeah, I'm with you on the no prone or leaning bit. It's not a perfect game by any stretch of the imagination, and I hope that they can improve it. I think they went a bit too far towards the sim fans.

7 pages of opinions, the games seems to read ok. There seemed to be some problems with the AI, but didn't read to deep into it.

reefsurfer, you said somewhere back a few pages you played it maxed out and showed some screens. They appear to be down but what are you system specs?

I've got a p4 2.66ghz with 2gigs RAM, and a Geforce ti4400...The recommended specs seem to be around what I have as far as cpu goes, but I don't wanna turn shit down as soon as the fights build up.

Was gonna get FarCry come Friday, but this game seems to be a bit more intense...and I could score FC off a dude at work (being the MP sucks to most of you)

You will be fine with those specs, everything max... no problems.
You'll get a better sp adventure out of FC though, but i like BIA alot and the mp is pretty fun.

Your choice. :icon31:

Well, after a few months I've finally picked up the game. :) After buying Farcy I totally forgot about this game and not until playing it on a friend's Xbox yesterday did I remember it. Got it installed just (but about to go back to work) so I'll check it out tonight...

MP Any good?

sorry to bump this. :tear:

The game was a huge letdown. I still am at a loss for why it got such good reviews. AI had major pathfinding issues (maybe that's been fixed in a patch), your teammates were also idiots who would do some incredibly stupid tactical stuff.

This game was just, flat out, not very enjoyable after awhile. The accuracy of the guns blew - like I mentioned earlier. I am all for some realism as far as spray goes with bullets, and some kick to the rifles...but when my guy is supposed to be some elite soldier, I expect that if I have a clean headshot from 40 feet to a stationary target while having time to slowly line up my shot that he be able to hit it. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Also, the way the maps lead you down a specific path can be very frustrating. Want to take a shortcut by hopping a 2 foot fence? Too bad.

It's not a terrible game. But not worth the high marks it received. Again, maybe much of this has been fixed with patches (hopefully). I stopped playing it soon after buying it.

All that being said, reefsurfer LOVED it so there is definitely probably some good aspects...just a matter of taste.

:) I'm easy to please, I've never been a fan of games being 100% spot on with realism...but I though the (xbox version anyway) few hours I played over the weekend seemed fun enough. I know what you are talking about when controlling your teamates though. Many times I had them hiding behind a fence before telling them to move a few feet...only to walk on the other side to be killed. :(

Maybe it was the way I was telling them to go but I don't really care...I'm sure I'll enjoy it, hope anyway. :)

It's a lot of fun on PC at least. Probably easier to control your team properly using mouse and keyboard I would think

I couldn't begin to explain what I went through trying to control my dudes aim with two joysticks, + telling my dudes to get the fuck down, + trying not to be shat at...ect, all whilst throwing a few back...

I'm pure skill though, so it wasn't that hard.

Played only about an hour of it so far, and I hate the way the mouse feels in game...and navigating the menus...anyone else dislike it or can you even see a difference in BIA and other games?

Yea...I didn't like that either. I just didn't like a lot of things in the PC version.

I recommend Ghost Recon 2 for squad play.
