That looks awesome, but it would be too much upkeep unless you have a battery of minionssyp0s wrote: So you're right in the sense that Londoners pay out the ass for their living arrangements in comparison to other areas, but other areas don't have what London has, so on balance, it's about what you require. In five or so years, we'll sell our properties, and after paying off the mortgages, we'll have something in the region of £2.5 million to take with us to the countryside, at which point we'll be looking at properties such as:

Lol @ opinion; you've never been outside the States. London is a super capital. You have everything there within miles reach. I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 visits, more than Paris or Berlin.scared? wrote:Rofl... Grow the fuck up narcissist....syp0s wrote: I think you're slightly skewing reality here. London is a shithole... Have fun living like a hobo so u walk to the grocery store and tell ppl u live "where it's at"
Your poor daughter suffers becuz of your extreme narcissism...

And London is pretty fucking win, how you can sit in your barren ditch claiming otherwise is comical. Plus you have guns, religion and republicans but I spose those could all be the same thing

Yeah Jesus, I'd never buy anything like that, I wouldn't be able to afford the upkeep. Place in the country is definitely the goal, though. We're aiming to have some cashola left over for a semi-early retirement. 50ishsaturn wrote: That looks awesome, but it would be too much upkeep unless you have a battery of minions
Re: listen up poorons...
You claim to be rich, yet the only trappings of wealth you can provide are a minivan, cheap house, and a Kia.scared? wrote:

Re: listen up poorons...
When you consider your average decent house is ~£250-£300k (non-London) these mansions actually seem to be massive value for money given the amount of land and house size you get.syp0s wrote:So you're right in the sense that Londoners pay out the ass for their living arrangements in comparison to other areas, but other areas don't have what London has, so on balance, it's about what you require. Not jealous, clearly.
Re: listen up poorons...
Properties of that size are good value per sqft, but upkeep costs are crazy. My girlfriend's friends owns one of these stately home type places (doesn't live in it), and its like having an extra child. You have to have the hearing running in every room 24/7 just to stop damp from getting in, and parts of the building constantly need to be repaired. The grounds have to have full time workers to stop them turning into a jungle. They've not given a dollar about, but I reckon they spend 80-100k a year just keeping in the condition where you could comfortably stay for a weekend. Add that up over a decade and you've already added a million quid to the price.PhoeniX wrote:

Girl and I are starting to plan that "final move" and the more we talk about it, leaving the country and starting over sounds way better than moving somewhere else here we'll hate. London and "areas" have come up a few times. Would be so fun, consider me jealous sir.syp0s wrote:Yeah Jesus, I'd never buy anything like that, I wouldn't be able to afford the upkeep. Seriously. Even 4k sqft you really couldnt shut down parts of the house for extended time, I couldnt imagine one of those big fuck off places like that. I mean hell, easily the bigger houses we had cost us 20-50k a year in upkeep shit like pools, lawns, repairs, and thats not counting anywhere that we lived that was some country club bullshit with HOA fees. II just couldnt imagine some place that large and actually having to deal with that upkeep. Then again, If I was going to throw down on scrooge mcduck sized houses I have a feeling it wouldnt matter.syp0s wrote:Properties of that size are good value per sqft, but upkeep costs are crazy.
