Semantics aside, I don't think I've ever heard you willingly bring up the evils of tobacco or alcohol, and they're FAR larger public safety hazards. Also, that Harvard study seemed to be drawing some pretty sketchy links...I'm too tired to clearly say what I mean atm. Going to bed...

Owning a gun does not necessarily make one a redneck but it can be a contributing factor.

Soon the wife and I will have our concealed weapons permits and be able to carry full time. I most likely won't carry, but my wife is small and travels with our son a lot and I want her to be able to fend off baddies.

We've got a gun safe and the guns are always locked up. The key is also hidden. I'm not so worried about home invasion as I have a monitored security system and I live in a great neighborhood. So there is no reason to leave a gun where my son or one of his friends will get it.

You have to be smart to avoid becoming a statistic.

Yes they can. But as long as my family and I aren't home when they're found, there's nothing I can do. When my son becomes wise enough to start looking, the keys will go with the wife and I. He will also be educated about the danger and use of guns.

Fucking finally, a straight answer. If your issue is with YGP fine, my point is that not all gun owners are rednecks nor are they all irresponsible twats such as the ones in the article you posted.

So to sum it up, YGP is a redneck because he thinks Amurka is God's gift to the world, he is incapable of and uninterested in, understanding the views of others, he keeps guns in his house despite the risk of his child unlocking the cabinet and then blowing himself or another away. And generally, he's dumb and loves consumption.

If proper (eg. legally required) precautions are followed theres no chance of that. So, to sum it up, you don't have the first fucking clue about the topic other than what alternet and gun control sites spoon feed you.

Edit: Proper safety precautions such as trigger locks and separate locked ammunition inside a locked gun vault keep any responsible owner's firearms as safe as possible. Considering the amount of firearms owned in this country the number of accidental deaths are small and far outweighed by cars, smoking, drinking, obesity, heart disease, biking, the list goes on and on. Its irresponsible twats that don't use the proper safeguards that cause the vast majority of problems but the same is true anything in life (eg. drunk driving, etc).

I think i was pretty clear in my post to begin with. I didn't imply that all gun owners are red necks you can see I gave specific reasons which have remained consistent so get off my dick and stop reading things into what Iève actually said.
