It's just a matter of personal preference and bias, where some people "feel dirty" peeing in the shower, but don't seem to when using a toilet.
Then there are the extremely OCD, like Juggs here.

Next time you're out for dinner with a bunch of friends bring up the point that you piss in the shower and see what everybody says. Maybe you don't clean your bathroom, but mine is immaculate. It's not a matter of having OCD, it's just common sense, do not piss where you wash.
A bunch of drunk buddies isn't exactly a scientific consensus. And I imagine that at least half of my friends probably drain the lizard when they shower too.
what about the women? bring it up with them and report back, post haste!

well it's like pissing on someone's grave - it won't harm them in the slightest, but it's pretty disrespectful
If you lived with someone who was closed minded about peeing in the shower, and strong prejudice against it, then yes it would be disrespectful to pee in shower if you shared it with that someone.
But the question here is whether their feelings about peeing in the shower are based on rational grounds.
As has been mentioned, people who use toilet paper to clean their asses are contributing way more in the way of uncleanliness when they shower, compared to those who only pee in the shower.

No, it has to do with the metabolic product. Methanol is digested into something poisonous (I forget what, an aldehyde, maybe?). Ethanol uses the same metabolic pathway, but the end products aren't quite so poisonous. So the ethanol competes with the methanol for use of the pathway. More ethanol metabolizing = less methanol metabolizing.
At least that's how I remember it. Maybe one of the docs or tnf knows for sure.
cheers

You can continue to pretend you're not pissing on yourself all you want.

I guess you don't get trace fecal matter on your hand when you wipe your ass either, do you? And you don't get fecal matter all over the shower when you wash your ass...

I think what Jackal is trying to say is that there is something wrong with his penis, somehow he can only get a slow dribble, the stream of urine has such a low velocity that it somehow is engulfed by the water in the bowl without even breaking the surface tension magically avoiding the laws of physics and preventing any splashing when he urinates.
So you say you clean your bathroom all the time, does that exclude the toilet? Because other then your occasional chili shit stain, what would be the point?
This is such an awesome discussion, how many of you actually take a shower before you get into your shower so as not get any uncleanlyness in your showers? Best take a sponge bath in your toilet. That’s the only spot for germs in a bathroom.

LOL. Yes, we'll let women's bathroom neuroses be the judge of this one.

You guys honestly don't feel gross getting in the shower the next day knowing the previous day you used it as a urinal?
TBH, I didn't know grown men even think about pissing in the shower.

This thread is highly amusing.
I think girls won't admit to peeing in the shower, but when you gotta go you gotta go, y'know?

5 pages of discussion, and not one articulate reason against peeing in the shower, except the valid concern that the drain may hold the fluid for long periods of time (which, as far as i understand, is not a normal state of affairs).

And the possibility of aerosolization.

I just realized that tnf hasn't weighed in on this since starting the thread.
So what's up tnf? Do you pass your stones in the shower or something?

you're gonna have to pave a better path to enlightnment on this one, buddy.
and out of courtesy is not valid enough a reason? i don't think there's been any substantial arguement made FOR pissing in the shower has there?

quite. the 57% majority of shower-pissers have gotten all defensive about their vile habit for 4 pages without a single reason given FOR doing it
i think that speaks for itself

I think you're overlooking the obvious here: Convenience. Most people only do it when they feel an urgent need to go but are covered w/ soap, shampoo, exfoliant (hee), etc. You don't want to drip water all over your floor and yet you feel like you can't wait, sooooo.....

That's not what's at issue here. People are making claims that peeing in the shower is wrong. I'm asking them to rationally back up these claims.

I use water and soap to clean myself after taking a crap. It still blows my mind that the western world is so backwards when it comes to anal hygiene.
and i rarely piss in the shower, but when i do, i don't feel like i'm doing anything gross.

I just have a pony in the shower too. When you've gotta go you've gotta go. Saves on wiping too.
