Please, those who need tragedies to continually recalibrate their sense of proportion about sports would seem to have little hope of ever truly achieving perspective. You want some actual perspective on this?

Well, a bit of it comes from the Kansas City-based writer Jason Whitlock with whom I do not always agree, but who today said it so well that we may as well just quote or paraphrase from the end of his article.

Of course I get the point behind Bob's statement. But his reasoning is just as flawed as the statement I made. There is no guarantee that the murder rate would go down. (psychos will always find a way to kill people) Though I'm sure it would. However, would that number justify changing the constitution and taking rights away from millions of law abiding citizens? We also don't know that the rate of murder wouldn't go up because the armed criminals can easily kill unarmed citizens without worry... Guns are a part of the American culture and are not going anywhere. That's reality. So I suggest anyone who has a difference of opinion get comfortable with that.

I'm not for personal gun ownership, but I do accept that the American general public is.

Please help us come up with a reasonable plan to stop the mass production of firearms, ban their sale to the public, collect banned firearms from the general public and criminals. We know what you think is wrong. Now tells us how you would fix it.
