At least he's not running away from it, leaving her to fend for herself. Whether you like it or not he's doing what a good portion of dads don't do these days, stand up and take care of it. Sure, fucking without birth control was not the smartest thing, but that's kind of irrelevant now. Coulda, woulda, shoulda, all that matters is that he's dealing with it.

You must have a shitty health care plan. We spent $20 copay for several prenatal care visits. Doc, hospital and anesthesiology were all payed 90% and the balance we payed pre tax. If you think paying a few hundred dollars for a birth is expensive, then maybe you aren't in the right place in life to provide for a child...

edit: oh yeah to Obliv: best of luck. The first few weeks after birth will quite possibly be the most stress you'll ever experience in your life.

that was my point...he's 22/3 without any real disposable income (yet), so the costs of caring for his wife, his baby, and himself are going to be much more than he suspects and he might have a hard time at it.

I don't know how the canadian military works, but the us military gives you extra pay if you're married, plus more pay for each dependant you have.
