I think a better question is "why I don't like stupid movies?"

Actually Plan B, an even better question is "why do you like stupid movies?"
And yet another question, but this one more targeted,"Why does it bother xer0s that I don't like the same stupid movies he does?"

We might get an answer from my first question, but I guarantee we won't get an answer for the second question, because xer0s has no backbone. He'll explain to you his retarded reasoning only in a PM discussion (which he's asked several members to do) because refuses to be honest on the forum...cause he's chicken shit and lacking the mental ability to defend his opinions. If you need proof, just ask him to explain his political opinion on anything and watch him turtle.

Yeah, "stupid movies".
People need these movies to feel empowered.

I like these movies because they give me directions on how to defend myself for when the apocalypse comes.

Then I highly recommend "Red Dawn". :olo:

No, they need them to point out to others as a bad example of how a story can be told. Pretty basic stuff, really. It's the same reason they show young kids a video of a guy stuffing his face into the spinning blade of a table saw: so that you can learn that doing that specific thing is a bad idea without actually having to experience it.

Oh and *cough*

One day, one day you'll fight the urge to watch this crap. One day.
oi fuckbag, now you're crossing the line. Don't blame the action flick that's based on a comic, it's good to see movies that are still made to be fun. Unlike Star Trek of course, that wasn't fun.

Memph can fuck himself too, moaning about Iron Man. Weirdo.

Pandorum

IMDB

sci fi / horror / action

Image

An old review for information, but I might add I was surprised by the appearance of (old) Dennis Quaid, but seems Ben Foster (never really noticed the actor before) stole the show and did a tremendous job.
Cam Gigandet & Antje Traue get good marks too

I watched the credits to see where and when, simply I don't recall it being mentioned before - Berlin, Germany and 2009

Look, to be fair, and I said in the first half of the movie, this is rubbish, but it got better.

I wondered how long I could endure, and I love my sci fi, but thankfully the plot developed and with the aid of the actors I was near satisfied, note not impressed.

...and from Wiki
The film's title refers to a fictional psychological condition of astronauts who fly through deep space.
If you have time to view, good and well, but don't seek this one out.

6/10

ironman 3 - 5 / 10

pretty boring storyline.
random 80s fatherless-boy-targeted-action-flick-reminiscence: the hero bonds with a fatherless boy.

but: the mandarin twist was great; and so was gandhis acting.

and:

-- As film critic Scott Mendelson said: β€œFor Potts, the movie was about other men giving her temporary agency/power and then quickly taking it away again.” --

Gotta love this Hollywood business model;
Keep cranking out sequels for movies that did reasonably well, until people puke up their lungs and claw their eyes out
WIN!

Here's another Hollywood business model: to not put any effort or money into writing a good story and instead cynically and blatantly referencing everything in your milked-out and raped franchise so that stupid people clap and cheer when they recognize it as they happily hand over their money.

WARNING: SPOILERS

lol..."Star Trek: Into Reference" :olo:

Actually no. I've decided that, like superhero movies, I won't be watching any more Star Trek films. I'm convinced they will never again make a Star Trek movie that Star Trek fans will enjoy, so I'm not gonna waste my time anymore. It's quite clear they'll just be a series of dumb action films, just like superhero movies. No thanks. I watch Star Trek because I like Star Trek. This reboot is not Star Trek. Prometheus 2 & 3 and any of the Hobbit shit is also off my list, because they, too, have shown they're only interested in cashing in with horribly-written garbage and know full well that with little effort they'll make billions from the endless supply of rubes who are there only because of brand recognition. I'll laugh at these movies forever, but I won't watch them anymore.

Sorry, I won't be joining you in the torture. Go ahead and suffer alone, you have that right.

I can't wait for xer0s to get upset that I don't like stupid movies made for idiots.

Always watching.
Watching.

Project much?

I haven't even seen the Ironman 3 trailer and - like the movie - I probably never will.

Like I said earlier, once you get enough will power to walk away from this shit it just gets easier and easier to ignore it and walk away.

Why are you so convinced that people will have some overwhelming compulsion to see a movie? Like GFY, I haven't seen the latest Star Trek or Iron Man movies either and have little desire to either. They are rather poor substitutes for real entertainment. Unlike GFY, I don't think I have some venomous hatred for intellectually dull blockbusters, they just aren't my cup of tea and I don't want to pay $12 for a ticket to anesthetize my brain when I can do that reading some of the posts on this forum for free.

I respect your point but I am convinced, overwhelmingly :D that I will see what I choose: If it the Star Trek genre I will be there.

Personally I don't fancy the Iron Man movies at all, so I guess it comes down to (as we know) personal choice.

I have no desire to and won't be lining up to see many so called popular movies that come out these days. Those Hobbit and so called comedy movies really depress me :tear:

Guess like you I suppose, I'll numb myself here, probably my daily medication :smirk: or as needed.

This is awesome: Iron Man 3 becomes fifth biggest-grossing film of all time. Always great to see brilliant works of art deservedly doing well at the box office as well

Not bad at all and I see Star Trek beat it :) in the UK at least.

Link to source on that page.

So I googled "List of highest-grossing films" for interest :sly:

1 Avatar
2 Titanic
3 Marvel's The Avengers
4 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2
5 Iron Man 3

then, to be fair googled the "Highest-grossing films adjusted for inflation"

1 Gone with the Wind
2 Avatar
3 Star Wars
4 Titanic
5 The Sound of Music

Avatar beat Star Wars; I bet James Cameron is very pleased :)

He's probably noticed how well Iron Man 3 has done; I wonder how that will affect his longtime upcoming making of the live action Battle Angel Alita - a film about a cyborg, not too dissimmilar to Iron Man, a film about a mech :)

It's not likely due until he's made both Avatar sequels.
