but a couple of things:

(2) i very, very much enjoy Otaku No Video. i've only seen it in dvd form--never in theatres, computer files, vhs, or laser disc.

(3) i enjoy End of Evangelion because (a) it kicks ass (b) the dvd menu is beautifully well done (c) it was a gift from a good friend [and i tend to cherish gifts i get more than something i buy for myself]

So basically thats it. Now if the question were whats your favourite movie, that would be something else.

i agree with juggernaut.

well, i suppose Shrek was OK, but its by no means worthy of all the praise it gets IMO. besides the whole silly sidekick cliche deal, there were just way too many pop jokes and references. having a few are passable, but it was just too much [kind of reminds me of the later austin power movies].

one of the more interesting things about shrek is that its essentially a fairytale (but with a twist in that it deals not with some prince or whatever but some beastly thing). this i think most people agree is a pretty cool idea. but the nice thing about fairytales is that they have this timeless quality about them. i think the makers forgot about that by throwing in all the pop stuff. its possible to be funny without making a reference to the latest fad.

anyway, even if you ignore that bit, it wasnt all that funny. LOLOLOL THE PRINCESS IS DOING A MOVE FROM THE MATRIX ROFL. i guess once in a while something thats pulled from somewhere else can be funny, but when its done over and over again...?

also a lot of people admire something when it appeals to both children and adults. but i think sometimes theres too great of an emphasis. people tend to be too enamoured by that idea and sometimes fail to really evaluate the thing for itself. for example, regarding the penis and the tower jokes a lot of people are like: "hahahaha, thats brilliant. this movie is amazing, its funny for kids and adults." really though, havent we heard penis compensation jokes a million times over?

anyway, thats my two cents. if you like it, that's cool, but im not a fan of it.

cool. i was merely asking if you watch non animated flicks. i know a couple of guys that are so into anime, they rarely watch a live action film. thanks for replying.

my kids were freaked by shrek,
the idea of a beautiful princess turning in to a fat green ogre was outside their understanding of how those stories are meant to work. It was pretty funny to watch them sorting it out.

yeah longest day was good (in its day) and minority report was okay for me, not super special though.

For me, I think it's the Lord of the Rings trilogy special editions, it's the ones that I have watched most times and that have the best extra materials.
