Exactly. Sticking with the Evo, which hopefully I'll have tomorrow. iPhone 4 is a beautiful design, but something about it...meh.saturn wrote: http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/07/ipho ... s-and-hd2/

Enjoy your DRM, no microSD card expansion, no HDMI out, closed market, and continued Steve Jobs faggotry.

It's all about the apps and yes there are a few fart apps, but not 200,000.Nightshade wrote:Enjoy your DRM, no microSD card expansion, no HDMI out, closed market, and continued Steve Jobs faggotry.

Re: iphone to soon disappear ...
My point in that comment was not about the number of crap apps, but rather the way that they all have to be Apple-approved, as opposed to letting the market decide what's shite and what's not.

If it's true....Jobs presented in his keynote the main 3 points to get your app rejected:Nightshade wrote:My point in that comment was not about the number of crap apps, but rather the way that they all have to be Apple-approved, as opposed to letting the market decide what's shite and what's not.
1) your app doesn't work as advertised
2) it crashes
3) the app uses private API's
This is cool IMO because you'll know your app will work (mostly) and they've checked the quality. Of course there's the conjecture of Apple's tiranny, but it works for Nintendo and their games....
Apparently they approve 95% of 15.000 apps a week. He also mentioned webapps using HTML 5 as open, uncontrolled platform for the iPhone. We'll see if that works.

Hopefully the iPhone comes to Verizon soon. Sprint gets the EVO, AT&T gets the iPhone, Verizon has nothing.
Re: iphone to soon disappear ...
Everyone knows it doesn't work that simple. Completely valid apps still get shot down because Steve doesn't like. Just... well... because, you know.saturn wrote:If it's true....Jobs presented in his keynote the main 3 points to get your app rejected:Nightshade wrote:My point in that comment was not about the number of crap apps, but rather the way that they all have to be Apple-approved, as opposed to letting the market decide what's shite and what's not.

Re: iphone to soon disappear ...
the author gets notified when his app is rejected and more importantly, why, giving him a chance to fix it.
usually it has to do with plagiarism or copyright issues.

I bet you use HDMI out no more than twice in the entire lifetime of your phone... And who needs microSD when you have 32 gigs onboard space? (spoken from the viewpoint of someone with no current plans to upgrade the 3GS)Nightshade wrote:Enjoy your DRM, no microSD card expansion, no HDMI out, closed market, and continued Steve Jobs faggotry.
DRM, closed Market and faggotry? Errr.. Guilty as charged.

Re: iphone to soon disappear ...
I can't say that the HDMI out will be used constantly, but it's nice to have. I've used it on my little HD camcorder and it's very convenient. The lack of expansion is the big thing, an extra $100 for 16more Gb of memory? Puhleeze, that's ridiculous. Given all the functionality that these phones have, I want the most storage I can get. Also, memory density has grown by leaps and bounds, so for a phone I'll have for at least two years, I definitely want to be able to add more memory.
Don't get me wrong, I think that the iPhone is an awesome design for the most part, I actually wanted one not too long ago. There's some really slick design and engineering in that thing, and it's very elegant, it's just not quite there for me, and has some significant drawbacks.

Re: iphone to soon disappear ...
Using a jailbroken phone has shown me just how much nicer it is in the sterile App Store environment. My battery life has gone to shit and its a crapshoot as to whether apps will run when I launch them. Then you have to deal with giving credit card info to all these random licensing apps and if you don't want to pay you get a bunch of crappy ads. The customizations are nice but you have restart springboard to do just about anything and unless you buy a huge theme it looks all disjointed.

Re: iphone to soon disappear ...
Yep. I had my iPhone jailbroke for about a month and decided to throw it back in the slammer. The apps just weren't quality. And the App Store solves that problem...
Re: iphone to soon disappear ...
I guess they want you to use AppleTV or some other dock system in lieu of a direct hdmi out.

New mobile Safari is SnappyTM
Re: iphone to soon disappear ...
