OSX is nice.....but I'm only going to consider getting one now that you can put windows on it aswell.

Doombrain, school of rock is a class movie >:E

I've used Linux before and if you put in the time you will see loads of benefits from it. I just didn't like the fact it took me ages just to get a DVD to run on it (some legal issue?)

I don't waste time anymore on setting up security, defragging the HD, installing and updating anti-virus programs, managing firewalls, cleaning up dll's and shit that programs left behind. Besides the eyecandy it has lots of functionality and the feeling that it's easy to use. I fire up my PC once in two weeks maybe, just to get updates for my windows mobile 2003 PDA. That's it.
Yet you used to take the piss out of us Mac guys :p

*smug* :)

I did? I never posted/trolled in the Mac forum. They had their own niche and only posted in BD or GD. Now I'm one of them guys :D

Vista works fine, OS X works fine, I use whatever I need to use to get the job done. It's a bad worker who blames his tools ;)

is there a performance hit for using 3rd party gui's?

Actually...there isn't any performance hit...at least any I can notice.

Windowblinds is hardware accelerated...so it's actually (according to their documentation) faster than the default XP themes.

According to task manager Object Dock is using 6 mb of ram and - along with all the other crap I've got running - I notice no difference with it off or on.

But I suppose if you create 10 docks and fill em full of crap it could be a system hog.

but how much ram u have ?

thats also a huge factor

note that this was a couple of years ago. i'm sure they've probably come a ways since then.

With regards to WindowBlinds, any version after 4.5 is hardware accelerated. Don't bother with anything before that.
