TBH, the PS3 doesn't interest me at this point. Its ugly, has a horrid controller which i could never see myself finding nice, and hasn't produced anything decent looking yet. Wow, rubber duckies with nice water. Show me that in a real time presentation in a real time game world enviroment where anything can happen, and NOT in a closed off bathroom where frame rate can be manipulated, and maybe i'll be impressed.
as opposed to the famous Madden 360 pic? :)
the point is, that water thing was technically marvelous. not because of all its refraction crap going on, but because it was an actual *body of water*. theoratically one could scoop up all the water out of it. now for those who cant actually see past a presentation, that opens up quite a few possibilites to use in a game. i'll leave the imagining up to you (although you never see past whats on the screen, not what can be done with it).

its kinda like saying "wow. PPL. now i can shine my flashlight on this steel beam and itll create a shadow. big fucking deal!!1".

but anyways, i wasnt going to post a PS3>* post, and this wasnt intended as one (so dont respond as if it were). i had an actual point but i just had to respond to this.
now i forgot my point :( damn you odium, damn yoooo!!!

LOL, of course they aren't losing any money. They're businesses.

I'm just curious exactly how the whole thing is broken down as far as sales/licensing/royalties, etc.

It's different from deal to deal and company to company.

My point was that lets ee what Sony do with this amazing tech they ahve. I seem to remember a showcase of "cid" for the emotion engine on the PS2, and yet NOTHING ever looking even a fraction that good in real time.

SONY like to wow people because they know they can sell the console with the name and not whats inside. Lets face it the PS3 has already won because kids want a "playstation". Doesn't matter how shit or good it does or is, it will win because kids want it.

Look at Fifa Vs. Pro Evo. Pro Evo is about 97 billin times better than Fifa, but Fifa beats it in sales every time. Look at Nike trainers compared to KSwiss. Look at Apple Ipods compared to X brand MP3 player.

Kids these days care more about the label than the product. What would my friend say if i brought something he didn't, oh my gah!

personally im getting both, and maybe the rev (though all that 'innovation' gets me worried everytime. i'll try it before i'll buy it).

best of all worlds is what i say \o/

i.e. "hey we just saw that MS sold the 360 at X price, we cant do that now or it will kill us."

They could sell it at $5 and i still wouldn't touch it as long as they keep that god awful pad design.

With the exception of FFVII of course. $5 sounds a bit high but id hit it.

The Revolution has THE best design IMHO. It just looks fucking sexy. The pad doesn't mind you, but the console itself just looks nice, like it would sit proud near your telly.

i hardly care for the way the console looks. its the pad that counts ;)
and i have exactly zero consoles next to the telly.

I agree with your above post completely except for this:

Have you used an iPod? I mean held it in your hand and connected it to your computer to transfer files, etc. Nothing else does it with the elegance and simplicity of the iPod. I've used numerous MP3 players and none of them stack up.

Sure, people also buy it for the iPod name like people buy BMWs or Mercedes for their name. But don't go telling me anyone else can come up with a superior product for the targeted market.

The pad... It puzzles me... I mean on one side its gonna be great. Imagine playing metroid and aiming with it while using the stick to walk... But imagine playing other games...

Its gonna be a very much "made for the pad" system, but that means even LESS games than before...

:(

"Stringer's comments come, of course, as Microsoft's Xbox 360 arrives in North America - timing which is undoubtedly entirely deliberate on Sony's part. Microsoft officially backs the HD-DVD standard which competes directly with the Blu-Ray standard, but has not opted to include it in Xbox 360 - however, it has hinted that it may release an updated version of the console with the ability to play back HD-DVD media discs at some point in future"

THAT IS SHIT

I really don't think you can judge either by a photo of the controller. Sony's looks like rubbish, sure. Nintendos looks unnatural, yeah. But don't go stating that any of that means anything until you use those controllers for what they were intended for. I really hope Nintendo pushes game innovation with their controller. Somebody needs to make some changes because current game ideas are getting awfully stale if you ask me.

But it doesn't run linux/play Ogg files/have a flashing LED/allow me to specify sleep times to the picosecond! How retarded is that?

The missus has an Ipod i bought her, but TBh its a hassle sometimes. You have to use Itunes, which randomly decides its time to delete all your music.

Every other one i have is plug and play. I just stick it in like a USB drive and copy the music straight to it in the folders i want and im done... And thats it. No Itunes to mess things up.

itunes does not randomly "decide" to delete your music. It is a program at the mercy of the operator. If you lost all of your music it's something you did.
Odium, you keep coming up with "facts" which are solely based on your oppinion. I have not had a single problem with my ipod.

And sure, kids like brand names, but that's what a brand is all about. I'm not saying I agree with it but it is a fact of business.

And your comments about the PS3 are way off base. The market is definately shifting towards the XBOX. Microsoft has created a whole new breed of gamer and that gamer is very loyal to the the MS brand. Saying the PS3 has already won is just plain wrong.

It does if you're thick enough to set your ipod to "synchronize" and then delete the MP3s off your HD...... rather than setting it to arrange things manually.

You'd have to be some huge fucking moron to prefer to copy MP3s manually from computer to player rather than have it organize the filesystem for you.... gosh, it's so stressful having iTunes arrange your music logically so that it's really really easy to find the files on your hard disk!

:olo:

Also, :olo: at iTunes randomly deleting music. How about you don't hit select all --> delete --> confirm: yes i want to delete these files from my computer.

I don't think that counts as it randomly chosing to delete music. lol
