Well I liked it because nothing beats it when playing an FPS. Turok and Goldeneye were very easy to control compared to PS2/XBox. The only thing that beats it is plugging in a USB mouse/keyboard.

Hopefully we'll be able to set up this new controller to behave like a mouse.

I'm worried tho that this thing will lead to an influx of Sega bass fishing titles and similar =/

It's a mouse but in 3d. Imagine an FPS with super physics likes HL2 where the wand actually represents an object moving through space in the game.

That image was created by IGN as like a "maybe this is how they will do it" sort of thing.

It looks so fucking crappy I aint buying one out of principle.

I mean really. A remote control with a crappy thumbstick attached to it. Really who the fuck are nintendo kiddening

"we want to capture the hearts and minds of those that have never played consoles before and a remote is the most natural thing"

What a crock of shit. People that havent played games before but want to get into it will buy a PS3 cause its from Sony.

anytime nintendo or any other company for that matter come up with a crappy controller it goes straight in the bin.

wow... i thought nintendo had gone loony after the DS, and the frist time i saw a pic of that, i was in full WTF? mode... but after watching the presentation on gamespot: (open in media player to stream) http://www.gamespot.com/live/stream_asx ... er_1_4.asx
i'm actually quite impressed. I just hope the games take full advantage of the capabilites. It will only be a gimick if developers don't make anything for it... then it will go the way of Rob and the glove.
seems like nintendo is the only game company willing to take risks anymore. bravo :icon14:

I understand you are a nintendo fanboy... but please keep your facts straight. The N64 was launched a full 2 years after the psx had two analoge sticks.

oof... i just had a thought that would be a cool idea for that controler. anyone remember a game called "die by the sword". was a crappy action game with a really amazing idea for sword play. you could swing the sword in any direction and various speeds to hack and slash, and make up your own combinations and killing moves. It was the only reason to play the game... but using a keyboard or pad was so combersome it kinda killed the fun.
this would be pure gold with that gyro remote.

The standard PS pad didn't feature analog sticks. It only became standard with the PS2.

same impression i had
. I'll need to fiddle with this before i decide how good/bad it i, i'm getting revo almost entirely for the old game thing, which still depends on whether or not their charging for it.

The original PSX pad didn't have any sticks, but after the big N introduced the N64 controller, Sony came out with the Dual Shock controller (which did become the standard pad for the PSX). In fact, there were two versions of the PSX Dual Shock. The first version had no rumble motors (so technically you can't call it a Dual Shock, but it was lighter due to the lack of the motors) and had slander and more elongated handle bars than the 2nd version. The 2nd version, which came out shortly after the first version, was of course the one that had the rumble feature, and Sony kept the shape/size of this version for the Dual Shock 2 for the PS2.

BTW, I have all 3 versions of the PSX controller :)

I think it's actually pretty nice. It just sucks for fighting games and the little C-stick was bollocks, but it looks like the Rev shell will have a normal stick for the c-stick, which is much better.

The best controller ever made was the PS2 pad
I could use for for hours and my hands would

Just seems like a waste of time
Microsoft used this tech in a pad ages ago
and it was also really wank. Not the revolution people were thinking.
Did you watch the demo video?

Also WHEN exactlly did microsoft do this?

*Barf*

I disagree. Somebody needs to tell Sony about "deadzone". Those sticks just flop about the place making it impossible to hit anything, and i get cramps way to easy playing with it.

X-Bo pad all the way, and as a very close second, the WaveBird.

It's interesting, but quite different.

It's a PC peripheral, so it's pickup rate is obviously a lot lower. Doing crazy things like this for a PC is a lot less good idea than doing it for a home console.

Also marketing behind this thing was probably a lot less strong than behind a console like the Revolution. Another thing is that, since it's for the PC, and not every PC gamer has one, developers will never create games that require the thing.

That's why the thing was doomed to fail. They're just completely different circumstances than the Revolution.

Again innovation by Nintendo.
They were the first to do a wireless controller.
Now look at the next gen. All three consoles have wireless controllers by default.

They wasn't the first. the ps2 and xbox both had unoffical controllers out a good year before the wavebird hit. Not offical, but still, it wasn't some massive thing they invented.
