Yeah man, Windows 8 scares the hell out of me. I'm also pretty sure MS will turn Visual Studio into a Metro app, which I guess mean it must be run as a full screen app. I just don't know how I'd cope if I can no longer see VS, my browser and something like Fiddler simultaneously.

Why would Metro branch off into its own hardware model in the same way that Windows did from MS-DOS? Forcing Metro onto the PC is stupid, but I don't see how it's going to just replace the desktop.

Slightly unfair though. People hear "windows" in "Windows 8" and approach the UI with the old Windows design principles. They would be equally confused when faced with mac OS or Linux. In fact, the idea that you had to click Start to shut down the computer was confusing to people when Win95 was first introduced.

The lady who talks about how there's nothing familiar and people need training has a very good point though. Is a non IT company willing to go over to an OS where they need to give people a training for it first if the alternative (Win7) can be used by them right off the bat.
