A few cops in New Mexico (who were probably only a little more authoritarian than an average cop you'd find anywhere) fucked this guy over because they thought nobody would find out and were no doubt waiting for the guy to die so they could throw him out with last week's trash.

firstly, i heard the 'black jesus' thing elsewhere, and secondly it's a reference to the awed reverence in which he is held by his multitude of fans. if i just said 'jesus' it would obviously be confusing, hence the qualifying 'black' which, combined with the context in which 'black jesus' is used, narrows down the field to one obvious candidate
