In F-Zero... and mind you this is being real loose with the definition of storyline, the storyline is very childish with childish cartoon characters with the bright colours and colourful animations are just geared for entertaining kids.
While wipeout has some decent music and more modern animation and a more grown up feel to it.
Its called anime :icon27:
There are many adults who like that style of animation and artwork in their games.
Kracus wrote:Well to be honest it's true. I own a gamecube and there are no decent titles out there that are exclusive to Nintendo that aren't oriented for children. Name me 10.
I'm not cross referencing an index of games but there are many more than that. Mario and Zelda games are just a start. Metroid 1&2, F-zero, FF: Crystal Chronicles, Baten Kaitos, and Tales of Symphonia are a few more right of the top of my head. As Eraser said, just because a game doesn't have gore doesn't make it a "kids game".
Mario and Zelda aren't kids games? FF isn't a kids game!? Fuck... all this time as a kid playing these games I must have had a very adult taste. Just because you have to read doesn't make them adult games. Even Metroid my little 5 year old nephew loves to play it. It does have a much more childish feel to it there's just no getting away from it. It's unfortunate really cause for awhile games like Final Fantasy were actualy evolving along as the gamers were aging and you got a more mature game as time went on but somewhere along the lines they kinda went back a bit and fucked up. They stayed in that teen age year mentality and haven't really moved beyond that stage which would make it very interesting. Why not have a FF type RPG with graphic violence and maybe even some nudity and good storyline that isn't so far off in fantasyland?
It may be simplistic but the fact is that's what seperates childish things from non childish things. It's when things are presented in a fashion that's plain and sometimes more realistic because it shows what you don't want kids to see because their kids that stuff you don't show kids is what adults want to see. Perhaps it's at a primal level or whatever but it's defninitely more entertaining. I doubt DOOM would be so great if it was actualy called DONKEY TALES and featured a Donkey that ventures from farm to farm killing stacks of hay.

Once again, you prove your stupidity but thats a daily event so it can slide. The point is that not all of us need a game to involve violence, gore, death, or "realism" in order to call it fun. Not having those things and being accessible to both children and adults does not define a game as a "children's game".

Yeah I'm the stupid one here? I didn't say you can't enjoy a game if it doesn't have adult content I said the games are childish and your basicly saying that you can enjoy childish games. That's fine, have fun, I however prefer a more adult themed game. Whether it's fun or not depends on the content of the game and the gameplay. Given the choice between two games that are fun, one adult themed and a childish looking game I'll choose the adult themed one. You can play the childish one if you prefer.

So your trying to say that any game that uses anime style graphics is childish. The graphical style or colours arent the only determining factor in the target audience of a game. Tales of Symphonia for instance is definitely not a game aimed at children yet has a strong anime style. But yeah...keep digging pipe-boy :icon27:

No I didn't say that at all, you are retard. You don't seem to comrehend english. I didn't say an anime style game is childish I said an anime style game like F-ZERO is childish while an anime style game like Wipeout isn't. It's the style difference thats important, usualy bright colors and off the top characters = childish. Which unfortunately seems to be a staple of Nintendo. Which is fine that's their market it's what they want to do, specialize in a specific age group but unfortunately that's not me. It's for the kids or the fanboys which it's painfully obvious you are. Not only are you a fanboy you're a fanboy in denial, the worst kind.

I really don't prefer one platform over the other and on the rare occasions that there is time to play it doesn't matter which of the three consoles are in use. Its simply something a little more interactive and competitive than a movie to do with buddies while the weather sucks.

If someone wrote an emulator I don't see why not.
The PSP certainly is powerful enough for it.
No, its not..
Thanks for playing, Please come again..
Why not? Supposedly it's as powerful as the PS2. I don't see why a well written emulator couldn't run on a PS2. When it comes to processing power, I'm sure the PSP could do it
Trouble is though, emulators are rarely stable and optimized enough to use the processing power of the host system efficiently. Other technical implications of writing such software for a rather feature limited platform like handheld consoles are left outside of my opinion of the PSP being able to emulate N64 games. Other systems like the PC have to overcome the same hurdles when it comes to emulators, but I guess the PC is a much more flexible system to do low-level programming for than a PSP.
In theory it should be possible for the PSP to emulate N64 games.. I don't see any real reasons why not.

Feel the hype burn
Its not as powerfull as the Ps2, its just sony arre marketing it as a "PS2 in your pocket" so people assume so. Its about half way between a PSOne and a PS2, only it has a lot more technology than the PSone. The biggest of all, is filtering. Filtering makes the games look shit loads better, and if it wasn't for that you would look at the PSP and think "these are just PSOne graphics?".
Thats one area that the DS let me down, no filtering. It can be very blockey at times with textures. However, it IS running wo screens at once with touch screen input, so its amazing they got it looking that nice at all.
I read on some emulator website for programmers that in order to correctly emulate something, whatever youre using needs to be atleast 4 times as powerful as what you want to emulate.

dont know how true that is though *shrug*
Its about true tbh..
tho theres always REALLY cleaver programming.. the guys who did chancast for PC, are porting it to Xbox.. which really isnt 4x faster..
[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.
It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.
I am now sick.
