Map pack for ExcessivePlus.

hello,
i am Casa,from the community of excessiveplus mod.

Right now, the project we are trying to acheive is to form a map pack for excessiveplus mod.just for the sake of making the mod more known and even more respectable than what it is now.So we are looking for mappers that have just finished maps, that can be suitable for E+, and would be generous enough to dedicate them to our mod.

In this way,by releasing this map pack in our community, along with a new mod update we are working on, the maps will be played surely and by a sufficient number of players.they will be as known as Rocket arena map pack, or three wave CTF map pack, because it will be the official Excessive plus mappack.We are seeing too many work of great mappers completely lost in oblivion.And this is too bad.

Conditions to participate are very easy :
-Number of maps included in the map pack = at least 5.
-Maps have to be recent.(not known and played by some other mods, already).
-They have to have excessiveplus logos in them,disposed in some visible and various places in the maps.
-And of course, we have to have the consent and the generous cooperation of the mappers, in case of some minor editing needed.

As you can see in this link by the number of active servers , taht we arent a dead community,we are still alive and kicking , and even growing more and more.

Welcome. :)

It might be productive to contact mappers who are currently beta-testing a map, and asking them if they would like to adapt that map for ExcessivePlus.

Even though the adaptation process is simple (logos + minor tweaks), many authors may not want to change maps that are final, just because it can get messy having multiple versions of a map floating around.

While this community has slowed down a bit from what it once was, there are still beta maps posted regularly...

I would also suggest posting a link so that readers can learn more about the ExcessivePlus mod, and try it out if they wish.

yes, sure.first of all here is the link to the main page of excessiveplus mod support website.

http://www.excessiveplus.net/ here you will find :
1-necessary files to view the game and play it, just like we do.
2-a list of current servers online.with the possibility to connect to them from the webpage.(using a small application named qConnect).
3-access to our forums,though the registration to forum maybe now closed , due to some massive spamming lately.(the main creator of the mod and website is now too busy to rework the PHP script ).

The game is characterized by a ,very very fast pace gameplay , no self inflicted weapon damage, and uber-powerfull knockback that can send you from earth to stars while , aiming and shooting at the enemy.

The server configurations are highly customable by server owners, we can have Excessiveplus servers that can give you the feel like you are playing CPMA,or Instagib,or rocket arena ...so,why dont you give it a try ? Life is too short. :sly:

Your description of the mappack sounds interesting.

I'm quite busy atm and not that into excessive+ I must admit, but I hope you'll find some people here who are willing to help.

I guess it would help if you could name some standard maps that are played a lot in e+ so mappers can get an impression of what to look at. I'd think that a good CPM map is not a good e+ map...

you are totally right. E+ needs big spaces, rather than small halls, or corridors. one of the best E+ custom maps, is overkill.
we play also a lot on 6++, 7++ , or dm17,ospra3dm1 is also beggining to have its place on E+ servers.One little detail that is important, is that we usually ,use corners (of walls ) in some maps ,to gain momentum.Like...we do a "bfg knock back shot"..to move...faster. so one good item to "invent" would be a launch pad , in shape of a corner that its NOT like normal jump pads, cause it would not have a jump trigger attached to it just a normal brush.this would be put in places of the map to allow us to move faster.

Other detail is that , we have multi jumps in E+. it means , we can use 4 times the jump button , to send us higher and longer in the air, so we dont need normal jump pads at all.

this is a little challenge for mappers.and something that can make Excessiveplus mod, live longer.Thanks to keep this topic running,maybe we will find some mapper that is willing to help us.

BTW, if some mapper is looking for a server to host a beta map online , on any mod, . as i said,i am running currently 7 US (HK) servers and can launch more if needed. I would be glad to help.

I just checked out your site and got 1.03 as I've had v1.0rc2a for however many years..I can see alot of things have changed..as I've got several configs that I've made that I like quite a bit. I'll figure this version out eventually.

I'm going to go a bit backwards here on a mappack..
I honestly think that you should look through ..::LvL and try to decide which maps will work best for the mod, and write to mappers(as far as who is still around)and get some ok's on using their maps. I think larger maps are probably better for excessive..space maps for instagib..so on and so on.
You could have some mappers make new maps, but you're never going to pull off getting a good amount of maps that people will play the hell out of...which would make people have a huge download amount for maps they don't want. A prime example of this is the Cpma Mappacks. There are 40 maps and people play like 5 of them religiously...I play them all, but the majority never will.
The most important part of it is that I can pretty much guarantee(in these days)that you are never going to be able to find a group of mappers that are going to make quality maps that will draw the public in vs maps that are already known. Lately like 5-10 maps are coming out per month and sometimes not even that much.
Just a thought I guess..It's nice to see you're still going on the mod.=)

just for information, we are turning this to a contest.the deadline is 15th march.we have already two good mappers willing to participate with their maps reedited, and some from scratch.

You might want to quote whatever it was from your forum. Clicking on the link it requires registration, which I'm guessing most aren't inclined to do.

yes, you are right . the registration process has been stopped untill we find a solution to a spam bot , that keeps on sending stuff you wouldnt want your kids to see on our forums.

we are trying to fix that.

anyway, as for the contest itself , i have sent a lot of emails to some mappers that i find personnaly very pro in what they do. and i have to say , that i have received three responses.two of them are willing to start the maps from scratch.

i ll disclose their names later , as soon as i see some progress made..

We agreed , that in the first map pack we will include reeditions possibly,of nice recent maps by talented mappers.

we are still working on this.Excessiveplus forums are now able again, to accept registrations.So get your IDs fast and look at this thread where we have some screenies and first maps sent out for testings.
