Desktop Screenshots

Post by BlueGene »

We haven't had this thread for a while and I just setup Ubuntu. Running great, easier then Windows XP in some ways. Especially with Automatix and all the guides. Let's see if anyone can figure out the disturbing movie in my screenshot. :)

I think the default themes and such aren't that great but it's the same for windows. I don't like the gnome icon theme all that much. For windows only the luna silver looks decent the default icons are also pretty good. I've seen some very impresive customization with Linux, it's so flexible you can set it up anyway you want to if you have the time.

I do like the new tango icon theme for gnome and the new clearlooks.

If you have that many icons on your desktop I would hate to see how many are in that unused folder. :icon28:

[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

Naa, even the user themes are very dry and colorless. The problem is its made my software developers and while they have a talent for code, they dont really have a strong skills in making things pretty.

So like i said, need some gay devs or something. Or atleast make them take some acid.

Well its not a question of what i personaly find astheticly pleasing, the point im trying to make is that its rare that i see something unique and artistic, they are all very dry and bare bones, which is nice too in its own way, but there is no style.

When i look at linux desktops, i think cold hard logic.

Now say when i look at OSX or some windows themes in windowsblinds or something, they are creative.

Like i said, i love linux, i just think it could use some UI loving.
