Hmm. Not sure if that's crap handwriting recognition or crap handwriting. Still, it's pretty useful for photoshop if nothing else.
The mouse thingy's pretty uncomfortable, though

I got the Wacom A4 for a bit over £300. Now I'm looking at it on my desk it's probably too big for my needs, but it gives quite a lot of precision if you've got a lot of "penning" space as I have it set to map the screen pretty much 1.5:1.
Pen is nice, mouse makes my wrist go carpal pretty much straight away

i reckon speech recognition would be pretty fucking sweet, except for the fact i'd be waking people up while i'm chatting to myself at 3am.
i also want a tablet so i can do slightly more creative things in photoshop, or not scan shit in all the time (proper handwriting in MSN would be cool, too), but i've heard buying a graphics tablet is pretty hit-and-miss, some of them are top-notch and do what you want but some are shitty -- 3-stage pressure sensitivity, uncomfortably large dead zones on the outer edges, etc.

This Wacom thing seems to be pretty good - took about 5 mins to get to set up and get to grips with the basics; doesn't have any dead zones, pressure sensitivity is good. My sister's a graphic designer and has one too (although, because she's therefore pretty impoverished, she has an A6 model). Tracking is good too.
I only really went for the large model because I have a big widescreen monitor and therefore needed a big tablet to get as close to 1:1 as I could.
