Re: Battlefield 3
remember that time a few years ago when i came on irc for 10 minutes, ripped on macs for a bit, and you guys remembered in perfect detail exactly what i said? i made permanent residence in your long term memory for something even the most no-life dribbler would instantly forget

I can't remember half of what I did yesterday. But you're right about the other guys. They remember you getting all mad about macs.brisk wrote:you guys remembered in perfect detail exactly what i said?

btw, i just noticed the irony of puff using the word "flail" in a sentence above. I guess he's been wearing his white knight suit for so long, that using medieval-era terms in his posts just comes out of him naturally nowbrisk wrote:more "u mad" posts btw.

Re: Battlefield 3
Is that from the beta everyone's playing, or some other version of the game? Because the beta's Ultra setting doesn't have everything enabled ATM.brisk wrote:[img]
Not my shot, but this is BF3 in ultra detail. Obviously optimised so that even Mac users can run itNo wonder shaft is so happy, he's finally found the next step up from Solitaire.

Re: Battlefield 3
lol turns out it wasnt the numpad...I can't rebind zoom with any key...pathetic game...
Re: Battlefield 3
This is my question too. Maybe it's because of image compression, but I swear the game looks better than that on low first person. That said, the game fucking sucks. Typical DICE shit, kills are half luck, ducking behind cover lets you keep getting shot for a couple seconds because of netcode/lag/whatever you want to call it... even though no other games do this to such a severe degree.Transient wrote:Is that from the beta everyone's playing, or some other version of the game? Here's hoping RAGE delivers or another year gone by without a solid shooter.
Re: Battlefield 3
Have any of you complainers actually reported your findings to DICE? Because that's what a beta is for, you know.
Re: Battlefield 3
Yeah, the shot was from the beta version, ultra detail selected. It has to improve, no question.
Re: Battlefield 3
i hear the general reception of the game is highly negative...lol cod wins...
Re: Battlefield 3
i refuse to play cod on the grounds that they are lazy fucks that use a 20 year old engine...next.
Re: Battlefield 3
seems to look better than bf3 for some reason...both look pretty bad though...

obviously things didn't go to plan for dice.
Re: Battlefield 3
1. wait 20 seconds to spawn
2. get spawn killed by someone underground
3. wait 20 seconds to spawn
4. spawn on a team mate who is a mile behind the action
5. run forward
6. get killed with the ump45 which is a god gun
7. repeat for twenty minutes, and you have bf3

why do they let random morons speak on the company's behalf?
Re: Battlefield 3
Exactly. Developer/publisher apologists make me sick. We're giving them money for a service and without our cash, they wouldn't exist in the first place. Many devs argue they're doing it "for the art" but stop paying their wages and see how many of them still make games. Not many I bet.
I don't necessarily think the public should tell developers how to make games, but in this case they're specifically asking for our input (public beta, duh) and are acting all pissy because a lot of the feedback is actually negative. They give us a shit sub-par cod-style map, when BF is all about the massive, open environments and wonder why people think it's a bit rubbish?
In before "privileged cunts" or some other stupid argument. Just imagine your response if you went to a restaurant and you got served a pile of shit on a plate after they took your money.

Hey shaft, I appreciate you defending this game. I want it to succeed also.
But it seems a bit strange to be cheerleading in the face of such overwhelming adversity.
Why are you going all Don Quixote on this?
I know it's "just" a beta, but what the hell is playtesting and finetuning worth then, if you present it in such a sorry state?

Re: Battlefield 3
The release of any battlefield game has traditionally been a disaster. At the start there's are bugs galore, usually even a few really annoying and obvious ones. And it might be the high expectations everyone's having, but from what ive been reading this seems like the most broken start in their proud series of broken starts. Which is why i'm staying the fuck away from the beta, it'll only be an exercise in frustration.
But what's also traditional is Dice's dedication to bringing the customer a satisfying end product, so i'm not all that worried. They always come through in the end, just give it some time. There will be many patches and the game will be glorious.
Having said all that, i am profoundly pissed and more than a bit worried about the browser/origin/game crossover thing that some idiotic person dreamed up. Not too pleased with origin being forced on me in the first place but at least i can mostly rationalize and accept that, even when it has to be turned on all the time when i want to play the game. But when they make a browser interface for my server selection and even squad management it just feels like they took a functional bit out of the game just for the hell of it. Completely missing the opportunity to make Origin useful in any way too; if they're so desperate to take that bit out of the game and put it on another platform for some obscure reason then surely Origin could have played a role in this. Steam does. It's how you elevate your software from being considered useless but necessary to it being functional. Idiots.
ah well /rant

A few loudmouth CoD fanboys on forums/twitter doesn't equal overwhelming adversity. I can barely stand reading the battlelog forums, they're full of trolling retarded 4chan kids. Im not defending their poor choice of an infantry only map, but i can understand where they are coming from...they want to succeed in a market dominated by CoD. Everything else can be chalked up to it being a beta, a BETA that everyone thinks is a demo. Sure i couldn't bind some buttons, there were a few map glitches, and squads havnt been implemented properly yet...i dont really care because its not done yet. I will save my complaining for the final product. Unlike most of these retards ive put more than 10 minutes into it and im enjoying it. I've played the Caspian Border map also.
I will take their word for it that most of these issues have already been fixed by the time this old beta build was actually released and they are using the open beta to test and tweak the backend. There have been updates and tweaks to the battlelog site almost daily since it started.
As for graphics, I don't see what there is to complain about, they already said Ultra hasn't been implemented yet...its the same as high settings....and that screen brisk was failing to troll with was low res and high compression.
These look good imo for high settings.
