Re: Forum migration and upgrade feedback
In case anyone wants to submit theme issues or even contribute to theme development, it's hosted here on gitlab: https://gitlab.com/quake3world/quake3world.com-phpbb-theme Edit: I think bbcode is disabled in signatures right now? Would be neat to have that back. LEM Forum is going to need back the [...

Have you seen the new Wim Wenders film Perfect Days Hipshot? Maybe it serves some good inspiration if only vibe.

Re: Foo3DM4 Testing
I really like the layout. I haven't fully developed a routine on it yet but I think it is safe to say that the central gallery below the RA is a little too powerful of a position. It's a good location to be in after a kill because you can hear pretty much all the spawns and have a direct line of sig...

Re: Dirty hack:: depth pass shadow volumes
I have also been thinking about a use case for this, it's tough, maybe it could be interesting if you have something like moving platforms in your map. Other than that, I struggle to come up with something.
Thanks fkd for pointing out the typo! I will fix it the next time I update the site.

Re: Water shading
I fixed a shader warning in Quake 3 related to deformVertexes normal that would cause shaders appear like they were missing. Wrote a small note about it here: https://www.ferdinandlist.de/blog/idtec ... es_normal/

Re: Water shading
Oi, cityy! You're still alive! Heyo, alive and kicking, trying at least. It's pretty amazing that 20+ years later, people are still finding ways to make the game prettier. Not to leave a wrong impression here, this post merely collects existing knowledge. I know Hipshot has been blending water for ...

Water shading
I was messing around with water shading this weekend and documented it here: https://www.ferdinandlist.de/blog/idtec ... r_shading/
I was mostly reproducing existing knowledge but maybe it is useful for someone!
If anyone has any additional tips and tricks around water and fog, please shoot!

State of the art Q3 lightmap building
For a while now, nigrum has been developing a fork of GTKradiant, NetRadiant Custom: https://github.com/Garux/netradiant-custom I'm sure many of you who still have an eye on Quake 3 map making have seen it already but I don't think it has been discussed on here. I'm toying around a bit with some map...

Also hats off to the video maker as gathering information like that with the given production quality is a great service to the community and a nice way to value all the hard work put into the maps, m...

Re: Screenshots
Yea but it was only a decision to a limited extent as the game does not support custom assets at this point so we were kind of bound to go with what it offers in terms of props and textures.Everyone is doing these japanese themes! That looks really nice. Nice colors.

Re: "Highline" Tourney [ALPHA 4]
Hey Pat, I finally found some time to check out the map. Made my feedback paintovers extra ugly, hope you can read it. My general feeling is that the layout needs more work. Rooms feel very isolated from each other which makes it flow a bit chewy. I'd suggest the following changes for now: General L...

Re: Photoshop CC
You only have two choices basically. The bundle of Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC if you work with pixel based graphics only. If you need to edit vector graphics, you can get all of the CC apps. You may however purchase photoshop only, but iirc getting it with lightroom is cheaper for some reason. Fr...

Quake Champions Mapping Capabilities
Since there is no thread about this yet: From what is known so far, QC will be a mix of id tech and saber 3D engine. The editor they use is just Maya (and I guess a plugin). So far they revealed two maps, one of which is a Campgrounds remake which I personally have mixed feelings about. I guess we a...

Have you added your new shaderfile to the shaderlist?

Update: [lvlshot]http://i.imgur.com/p1esl7T.jpg[/lvlshot] I think it is taking shape very nicely but your lighting is not maxed out imo. I tried to give it a quick 2 minutes workover in photoshop (which is of course easier than achieving the same in the engine). I think you should try using light m...
