Re: [Final] Quadwell
Congrats on bringing it home. :-) Pleasant aesthetic. I particularly like the subtle two-toning of brick layers, and the really nice shadow variation that brings out the feeling of poking around through a structure that is just lit by the sun. (Without hurting playable visibility.) Also good job usi...

For Quake 1 mapping, you should really absolutely super plus for sure join the Quake Mapping Discord: https://discordapp.com/invite/j5xh8QT And also watch the tutorials from dumptruck_ds on YouTube. To take a quick whack at your questions (more details available from the experts over in the Discord)...

"Surveyor" mod for measuring map dimensions in-game
Hey folks. (Long time no post.) This is just a little thing but I should mention it here -- since if anyone else other than me would be mildly interested in it, this is probably where they would be. :-) I was looking at some spaces in maps and curious about how the author had sized them, so I made a...

Re: Unable to generate .AAS file for ported Q3A map
In CTF I get this message when I spawn a bot: "Warning: no alt routes without Neutral Flag" FWIW, this particular warning is not an AAS-generation issue. I can talk a little bit about what this means in Quake 3 (IIRC), and probably the Quake Live bot AI is similar. (cf. https://github.com...

Hi guy. :-) I still like to see what's happening in here every now and then!
I remember playing Dark Mod in the pre-2.0 days, looks like I need to check back in with it again.

Re: Goldleaf [Release Candidate]
thanks, johnny. good to see you around here. (btw i actually often think about that large ctf map you were working on several years ago - i've since forgotten the name. that was an amazing layout. what ever happened to it?) I think about it too. :-) The graybox (or I guess red/blue-box) version is ...

Re: Goldleaf [Release Candidate]
That's an attractive shot there. And a cool name. :-) I've done a couple of bot games on it so far -- not enough to form any worthwhile opinion about gameplay tweaks. Well, I guess the YAs did seem a bit close together? I know their X/Y coords are pretty well spaced out, but it's a very straight sho...

Re: Quake 3 map sources?
Not space maps, but here's a couple of sources:
For q3wcp15/jlctf3: http://eclecticmenagerie.com/downloads/ ... source.zip
For titans/jlctf2: http://eclecticmenagerie.com/downloads/ ... source.zip
In the case of Titans, that does include use of a skybox.

Re: GtkRadiant 1.6.4 Released
Excellent. "Shipping is a feature", as they say. :) BTW I've found that q3map2 -exportents to be handy when fiddling with old map bsps. I think I used to use q3wumpas (?) for that purpose, but if all you need is to fiddle with the entities and then shove them back into the bsp, it's nice t...

Dunno. The only place I can even find a mention of it now is at http://www.dailyrush.dk/stories/362/ (and the download link there points to something else entirely now).

Re: Anybody have a copy of oehm.pk3, "The Ruins of Oehm" ?
It's always a little weird when something vanishes off the web like that... you tend to think that once something is sufficiently spread around the internet it is more or less permanent, but nope.

Anybody have a copy of oehm.pk3, "The Ruins of Oehm" ?
oehm.pk3 was one of the early custom maps that was trying to do something more vertical & interconnected than the standard Q3 maps... I think it was mildly popular for a while on servers providing custom DM maps, and among CPM players. Can't find a copy of it now though.

This is more or less an exact copy of something I also just posted on the QL mapping forum. Apologies if it's a little too spammy... I'm not sure how much audience crossover there is :) and I'd like to get a few more eyeballs on this to make sure it works. So: To be clear, this doesn't enable you to...

Re: [ALPHA 1] CZQ3DM1 by CZghost
If you're compiling the bsp using the -meta command line switch, then I believe you need to use the -forcesidesvisible switch for bspc or it will complain (misleadingly) about leaks.

Re: QL versions of some old CTF maps (jlctf1, titans, q3wcp15)
Aw they just look the same as they always did! I guess though that there are now Q3/QL players that weren't even born yet back when these were originally released... I'll honor the Q3W tradition, here's one shot of each: http://neogeographica.com/site/images/q3maps/jlctf1/redbase.png http://neogeogr...

Re: QL versions of some old CTF maps (jlctf1, titans, q3wcp15)
All pk3s updated slightly. Nothing that requires re-testing for anyone who has already given a look. I think they seem to be good to go now except for one weird thing. If I play the Quake Live version of jlctf3 against bots for a long time, sometimes the rotating red emblem from the floor of the red...

QL versions of some old CTF maps (jlctf1, titans, q3wcp15)
Yeah this is a follow-up to viewtopic.php?f=10&t=49559 ... we'll see how well my solution worked. OK so I kind of felt that it was a shame that I (or anyone) couldn't just fire up Quake Live and use it to shoot some bots on my old maps. The conversion process from Q3 to QL wasn't as braindead as...
