Explanation of CM_BoxTrace requested
Never mind, I figured it out. Hi, Could someone please explain the use of arguments in the function CM_BoxTrace? I marked below the arguments in question. What are the possible values and what is their purpose? void CM_BoxTrace ( trace_t *results, const vec3_t start, const vec3_t end, <- how could ...

Expected better of this forum. Sadly, I have to conclude that it is not worth visiting or posting anything here. I am leaving, the admins may as well delete my account if they wish to save space.

Re: Why are avatars disabled?
@EtUL: Lol the admins that you're slagging off have posted in this thread. They answered your questions. The  is strong in this one. No, they have not answered my main question. They just made excuses (too much work, it has been like that for ten years, etc.). Entitlement generation :smirk: FYI...

ffs, why do you care so much? Who gives a shit? You'll be a pathetic fucking loser with or without your fucking avatar :olo: I guess you have earned your avatar by posting lots of polite and informative messages like the above. Nice job. Re: Why are avatars disabled?
... I've explained the historical reasons of why users can't change their own avatars, it's been like that for over 10 years and we're not going to change that simply to appease one person. How do you know it is just one person? I can well imagine that many others simply did not bother to ask after...

Re: Why are avatars disabled?
As I said earlier, this discussion is getting more and more pointless. Have it your way, it does not really matter to me. My avatar sucks anyway, so it is probably better if I am not allowed to use it.

Re: Why are avatars disabled?
speaker, do you believe you've made enough of a contribution to warrant an icon? Although I decided to stop posting to this topic (seemed pretty pointless) I cannot let this go w/o an answer. Why on Earth should I EARN an avatar? This is absolutely fucking ridiculous. My point is that if others can...

Re: Why are avatars disabled?
Just checked the avatar topic in the 'Announcements' thread. My eyes kind of popped out when I read the following: You pretty much have to be online on the forum for about 48 hours straight. All of us with custom icons have done it. Why all this hassle? It would have been easy for the admins to allo...

Re: Why are avatars disabled?
@SoM: I am definitely interested, I check the forum every morning for new stuff. Most of the topics posted are either uninteresting for me, or outside my expertise. I post only if I have something useful to add. I wish others would do the same. ;) @LawL, 4days: Thanks for the suggestions, I will do ...

Re: Why are avatars disabled?
Hi, I fully agree with the restriction on footers, those are really abused by some jerks. On the other hand, the avatar is only a tiny 60x60 image. Also, what may seem ugly to you could look cool to someone else. It is highly subjective. I think that the 1000 post limit for avatars is a bit excessiv...

Why are avatars disabled?
Hi, I have been wondering why it is not possible to upload avatars. In my user profile I see the following message: The avatar functionality is currently disabled. It has been 'currently disabled' for years by now as I recall. :disgust: Is there any rational reason for this? After all, quite a few b...

Re: Map entities
Hi, I am not surprised that you have problems. The whole spawn module has been designed by a person who must be nuts. It is unnecessarily convoluted and very hard to understand. I suspect that the cause of your problem is that you do not modify the 'giType' and 'giTag' fields of the item structure. ...

Re: Problems applying new model to player entity -- SOLVED
I have to agree with your remarks. Sadly enough, Q3A is being more and more ignored by developers. Which IMO is a shame, because - except for its somewhat dated graphics - Q3A is still better than most of the recent FPS games. (Btw, very detailed graphics -- so called 'realistic scene rendering' -- ...

Re: Problems applying new model to player entity -- SOLVED
You never know. Someone might Google for the same problem in the future and end up at your thread and fix his problem because of it. That person may never post here. You are right, I probably should have posted the solution. OK, I will do it when I have a little spare time. As for not getting any r...

I like the part where you explain what you did to fix it. Very informative addition to the archives  Well, I will be glad to explain it to anybody interested in the topic. But seeing the complete lack of interest (no comments) I felt that I was not obliged to post a lengthy technical explanatio...

SOLVED, PLEASE IGNORE Btw, thanks for all the (non-existent) informative and helpful comments :disgust: Honestly, I expected a better response on this forum. ------------------------------------------- Hi, I have a problem with player models. Problem with player skin usage
Hi, I have a question (problem) about player skin usage. I am trying to add PM style bright skins to Q3A. In a nutshell: I make copies of the default skin files (head.skin, etc.) and call them XXX_pm.skin (e.g. head_pm.skin) Edit the files so that the surfaces use a greyscale image (replace the refe...

Re: Proposal: A tiered server system for fighting aimbots
It might work for a select group of servers (although I even doubt that), but if you want widespread adoption of this system, or maybe even something that's built into the out-of-the-box product (which means all servers run it) then it'll only create problem. I have never thought that my system wou...

Re: Proposal: A tiered server system for fighting aimbots
@Eraser: Thanks for the analysis. You mention a couple of valid issues that must be addressed. But these "illegal paddles" are undetectable, so we can't just ask them to go away. Where I believe the tiered system will fail is that you're differentiating on skill level, not on whether someo...

Re: Proposal: A tiered server system for fighting aimbots
HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO POINT OUT THAT THE AIM OF THE TIERED SYSTEM IS NOT DETECTING THE CHEATERS, BUT RESTRICTING THEM TO A PRESET SKILL LEVEL SO THAT OTHER PLAYERS ALSO HAVE A CHANCE OF WINNING? Sorry about shouting, but it really irritates me how you all seem to miss this essential point. As...

ok. sounds like you've come up with a remarkably complicated and implausible solution to a problem that i've never encountered outside a newb FFA or CA server. easier solution: /callvote kick aimbotter F1 F1 F1 F1 Can you tell for sure when somebody uses an aimbot (a really sophisticated one)?
